But Wrestlemania weekend is about wrestling.

It's a vacation trip that goes beyond wrestling. WrestleMania is just the excuse to visit great markets that otherwise folks like us would never set aside the time and money for.

Smart business decision from WWE, but like a poster said above, sad for any small indy promotion.

Didn't TNA when WM was at Orlando six years ago plan on flying a plane above the show with a banner saying "Watch Impact Wrestling!"?

Do you honestly think the people that went to Mania this year (who have never been to Louisana) decided they were gonna stay in their hotel rooms and not explore the city? Come on now...

He also discounts all the wifeys that go "Oh, it's NYC? Miami? New Orleans? San Fran?"

not for the hardcore wrestling fans. You can easily see the city before and after wrestling shows. The Indy shows make Wrestlemania more than WM itself. If you book to go to Wrestlemania, go to the indy shows. They're all weekend long and most of the time better than the big show itself. If I wanted to explore a city when Wrestlemania wasn't going on I'd do that.

I don't think you realize how many indy shows are going on that weekend. You explore what you can but WRESTLING is priority #1.

I wouldn't book a wrestlemania weekend with my wife. I'd do it with my dude bros, no homo.

Indy shows being top priority for WM vacations may have been the case for Chicago, Detroit, Orlando, and Atlanta, when those indy shows in general were better than WM itself.

Not the case anymore after the three indy shows I saw in New Orleans. Quite frankly, I'm okay if some hardcore fans are discouraged from flying out. You wanna see a doubleshot of shows? Plenty of indies book that throughout the year.

I get the whole, "Just have fun in the host city" idea, I really do. But Santa Clara and the surrounding area isn't a place that I would ever consider travelling for a vacation. Miami and New Orleans were places like that and I got an amazing weekend of wrestling shows and spending time in fun cities. I didn't include New York because it was a 2 hour drive for me and was just a totally different experience since I didn't really have to travel for it.

This year I'm look at a more expensive trip, for a city I wouldn't be interested in visiting without Wrestlemania, and there won't be any indy shows that are easy to get to. It makes the trip a lot less appealing for me and I can't imagine I'm the only one who feels that way.

Childish and a dick move, but understandable.

Mayorga on facing Vargas: I'm going to give Vargas the chance to cash his last paycheck. I would like to say publicly that Fatty Vargas has always feared me. I conceded to take this fight at 162 pounds because fatty couldn't lose any more weight. I will do Vargas a favor by retiring him in this fight so his family doesn't have to suffer every time he steps in the ring. I'm going to do his wife a favor and not let her cry anymore.
