Weirdest Indie Gimmick
I am a huge fan of indie wrestling. I think there is something cool about guys who get paid little or nothing to do what they love. It's also cool to see some legit stars of yesteryear and future stars on the cheap, and with great seats as well. In recent years, I've seen guys like Greg Valentine, Golddust, and Brutus Beefcake, as well as Cesaro, Colt Cabana, and Zima Ion.
That said, sometimes, there are some ridiculous things to be seen as well. One guy I've seen a couple of times is a bad, but occasionally funny, IRS rip off Poor Rico. He's an accountant, but terrible. Hence the name "Poor Rico." He constantly talks about the economy, 'wanting even more economy,' etc. In ring, he's ok,nothing offensive, but he gets good heat on the microphone with his tax schtick. Last week, we wrestled another local bum, Pistol Honda (rip off of Piston Honda from Punch Out). Before the match, Rico approached a woman with a baby. He was talking about the tax break she could get from having the baby, then he started talking about how she could be audited for Brest feeding, and he would call the IRS unless she handed over a bottle of milk. It was crazy and uncomfortable, especially for the woman.
The reason I brung this up is, what is the craziest indie gimmick or angle anyone saw at an Indie Show? This was odd and out of character, so,etching that would obviously never fly in the WWE.
