Default Could Shaq have been a great wrestler?

He's taller than the Big Show, but in better shape and has a ton of charisma. He could have played either a great face or a great heel, that is for sure. Of course, we can only imagine what his ringwork would have been like, but if it was even just ok, I think he would have had a remarkable career.

Just a random thought, really

Any other guys out there you think could have nailed it as a wrestler but never tried?

I would have liked to have seen Lawrence Taylor keep at it. For a celebrity/non-wrestling athlete, his match with Bigelow at 'Mania 11 was pretty damn good.

Shaq would be as good at wrestling as he is at free throws.

Well when you're seven foot tall you don't have to be a great wrestler to make it big. I see no reason why he wouldn't.

Outside of being white what does Nash have that Shaq doesn't?

Nobody said every 7 footer is going to make it. None of those guys are 1/10th of the athlete Shaq is. Most 7 footers can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

With the name Shaq alone Shaquille has already surpassed those guys in charisma. Marketable name, marketable looks, great athleticism you're kidding yourself if you don't think Vince is going to drool all over him.

Also from 96-98 was probably the best opportunity for an African American to rise.

some of those guys were decent athletes just simply were never able to transition to pro wrestling. reis was a division 1 ncaa basketballer something the likes of kane or undertaker never were. silva played ball at olympic level for brazil alongside oscar schmidt who himself was one of the greatest players ever to play the sport

obviously now with his name value vince would love him but assuming he never becomes a pro basketballer and a huge celeb would vince have been interested..probably not. in 1996 vince would have told him to come back when he put on 75lb of muscle because lets not forget what he did to gonzales and he weighed 420lb at the time

Both Taker and Kane played college basketball. Not D1 ball but they weren't slouches either. Also not 7 footers either which can matter. You can skew height in wrestling not in basketball. Shaquille is arguably the greatest center of all time. He'd make every single one of those guys his b**** on the court. Bigger, quicker, stronger. They would literally look like children trying to guard him.

Jorge Gonzalez looks nowhere near Shaq and it's why they put that ridiculous suit on him. He couldn't look athletic. Shaq definitely would have to bulk up some but that's the case with every wrestler period. Could he do it. Absolutely.

He would have been as big as the Rock. Shaq is great at everything except beig interesting on Inside the NBA. He's an athletic giant with a really fun and laid-back personality who can get really mean and scary when he wants to. Of course he would have been super successful.
