This guy surpassed what I expected of him, I mean most of his time on his debut as Tyler Breeze was him taking pics of himself but I think with the material he has been given he will do really well.
Not a fantastic finisher either but he pulled it off well..
Thoughts on Tyler Breeze, does anyone have more info on him? With what little he has shown as Tyler Breeze do any of you see potential?
Fandangos certaintly got some competition in the flamboyancy competition but I won't be checking for the Tyler Breeze GOAT threads yet but I am legit interested in what he brings to the table or runway.
I liked the gimmick. Shameless Zoolander ripoff but many of the greatest wrestling gimmicks have been ripoffs of movie characters. Certainly much better than him just being Mike Dalton, the never-say-die underdog from Lance Storm's academy. Just goes to show, everyone should have a gimmick!
But not to belittle Tyler Breeze or suggest anyone could take this gimmick and make it work, he did a very good job, definitely made me laugh a few times, and the self-shot gimmick is brilliantly annoying. Looking forward to seeing more, he gets preliminary approval from me.
That finisher was weak though...surely he could come up with a better move than that? Here's an idea: since he is a Lance Storm protege after all, how bout the old single leg crab - that way he could lock it in and still have one hand free for taking selfies!
Really can't be drawn into this gimmick whatsoever. It's basically a Ziggler/Fandango mash-up and it just didn't work for me. Let's see what they do with him this time though - he's pretty much flopped twice now as Mike McGrath and Mike Dalton so it doesn't look too good.
:lmao Thank you for saying it so I don't have to. It's so distracting but that's heeldom for you I guess.
On the brightside he's really good in the ring so it's nice to see him getting the chance to actually do something. I always saw him in the plucky babyface role with guys like Xavier Woods and CJ Parker etc but I guess now there's more room for those two.
He's a damn good seller in-ring, don't know if he's ever been allowed to show much offense as he's basically been used to make other bigger guys look good.
Folks need to remember this was his first try with the new gimmick (though he did use it at house shows a bit before this televised debut) so there will be tweaks to it. I do know that the vid/pics he takes of himself will be connected to his entrance video so the pics he takes will be seen on his tron live which is a nice touch. Also he has borrowed from Sherri era HBK (and Elvis of course) as the ring announcer is handed a note and announces "Ladies and gentleman, Tyler Breeze has left the building", a bit I'm surprised hasn't been used in 20 years, though I could see a main roster guy stealing it from Breeze in short order now.
He's also doing a bit at house shows where he's counted out as he quits the match and leaves the ring because his opponent won't stop hitting him in his gorgeous face, after imploring his opponent during the match to stop hitting him in his face.
Absolutely love this new gimmick of his. The finisher was pretty beautiful too. Team him up with Fandango when he gets called up and vóila, you've got a nice little team.
Not to be meant as a knock to either Breeze or the person in question but Tyler reminds me a bit of the guy from the Post Your Picture thread who posts selfies. :
The match itself lasted like 2-3 minutes. What can you show in that period of time? And the taking pictures thing is supposed to be annoying so I guess he's doing something right.
I hate specific gimmicks like Tyler Breeze's gimmick but i understand the need for them. I can see him making in to the main roster eventually, but i think there is a thin line for him. He could have short run when he first gets up to the main roster then easily become a jobber after that
He'd be perfect for 2005 WWE where every heel was a Rick Martel carbon copy. But these days people want to see characters with a bit of depth and realism. This is just a blatant Zoolander ripoff on the surface, he'll probably be tweaked in time. Bleached hair does not equal a good gimmick.
He got a non generic entrance. It was actually cool. I like when WWE utilizes the lights in the arena to put on a mini light show during entrances. Just like HHH with the green lights, Bret with Pink lights, Kane with Red Lights and so on. Makes it feel so much less generic than just walking to the ring with music playing.
His look reminds me abit of Ziggler. Like a Dashing Cody Rhodes + Dolph Ziggler type of mix.
And this guy was Mike Dalton?!? I hated Dalton cause of how plain he was, but now this gimmick seems so much better. Really liking what WWE is doing with NXT and all the gimmicks.
They weren't. However, this male model gimmick, to me, comes across as a mash up of Ziggler's 'Show Off' gimmick and Fandangos flamboyancy. It isn't that hard to see how this male model gimmick relates to the other two.
the selfies were more important in getting his heat than the match was
