Conor O'Brian

What's the opinion on this guy here? I've seen him on NXT lately and he seems really slow, too bulky for his frame. I remember him on NXT Redemption with the rat gimmick, which was not television worthy but led to some funny stuff with Ricardo, and then his tag team with Kenneth Cameron got blown up when Cameron got released. The Ascension's gimmick was a little too hokey and I didn't buy them as these dark/evil characters, but they had fantastic intensity as a tag team. Now that O'Brian is keeping that dark gimmick, and got too big, he seems on the verge of being a lost cause.

Thanks.
Now I remember one of the darkest day in wrestling history again. :ziggler1 ...
The Ascension were genious.
Strange, ridiculous, epic and fantastic in the same time. So fucking awesome.

I still love Conor, and don't think he's a lost cause.
He'll make his way and I will stand by his side.

How can you not love that smile:

Re: Conor O'Brian

Conor was nothing special. Kenneth Cameron I thought was the star of the team.

Re: Conor O'Brian

He's got a great smile and laugh and the perfect look for the team. He's not terrible on the mic or in the ring, he just struggles to implement the character in to his movements and in ring work. As many have said, Rick Victor should have been made his new partner, start from scratch.

I don't think he's a lost cause. I think there's potential in him yet.

Re: Conor O'Brian

I always felt like The Ascension was one of those teams consisting of two people that creative had nothing for so they stuck them together, and it clicked. I haven't seen a whole lot of his post-tag team work, but I think he has potential to be a decent Midcarder/Upper-Midcarder some day.

I think calling him "The Ascension" Conor O'Brian is dumb though. Hard to find the words to properly describe why I think that, but the best I could say is that the tag team is/was (at the time he re-debuted) still fresh in everyone's mind and using the name on him as a singles wrestler leaves a big storyline gap (I don't think they've ever given a kayfabe reason as to why Cameron isn't there anymore).

Re: Conor O'Brian

He's got a unique look and goes all-out in whatever gimmick they want him to use (he embraced his Rat persona on NXT, and was convincing in Ascension). I have nothing wrong with the guy and hope he gets paid decently one day.
