Default Rick Victor

I'm not sure if there was a thread for this guy already, but here's one for him just in case. He's a relatively overlooked fellow, but he's awfully experienced and well trained. He's been used very rarely on NXT, while in the latter days of FCW he was a mainstay.

Anyone got any info on the guy or some of his Stampede work that's worth checking out?

The last time I saw was on here with those NXT hidden promos. He was with the Wyatt Family, and he had longer hair, and a full beard going. Looked cool, and I think with that look he should head over to the WWE. Use the Sharpshooter as his new move, and talk about his roots. His clean cut look from before was stale, and his look was just awful. His bearded look, and long hair works. I think he could use a name change though because Rick Victor is just awful.

I got a ton of info on Rick Victor. He was formerly known as Apoc in OVW and Apocalypse for years before that in Stampede wrestling, PWA, and in a promotion in Winnipeg (I forgot the name of. WPX?) where he was in a heel faction with Gangrel and Thorn. Held the secondary belt there (Mayhem belt I think). Was tag champs in Stampede with Harry Smith, and was heavyweight champ for over a year while with his own gang, the Army of Darkness (including Belle Lovitz and Ravenous Randy). Tokyo Joe sent him on a tour of New Japan in 2003 under the name Canadian Shadow. Worked with Tenzan (the champ at the time), Scott Norton, and Josh Barnett a lot while there. Toured England as well. My favorite matches were any involving TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd now), but he has spoken highly of his OVW matches with Von Lilas. Has also worked with Sabu, Jerry Lynn, and Lance Storm. Was trained in the Dungeon, under various trainers. Mostly Tokyo Joe, but also got stretched by Stu himself, and initially started with Bruce Hart as his trainer briefly, then Ross Hart. And with classmates like TJ, Harry Smith, and Natie Neidhart, you know there's some skill there. But yeah, the look needs to be more evil, that's what works best for him. The OVW Rob Zombie style was my favorite. But check out the Apocalypse montage by Chucky Blaze (a phenomenal Stampede talent) to see the rarely used and super deadly Crucifix Piledriver... scary looking move lol. His original finisher was a Michinoku driver from the top rope.

I don't get why he's not used. He's an experienced hand, if a little bland. He should have been put with Conor O'Brien in a new Ascension rather than trying Conor as a singles.

Here's a recent picture from his twitter -

I can't post links yet, but the video I mentioned is on YouTube under the name '"Canadian Shadow" Apocalypse music video'. The music being his longtime theme. "Bloodline" by Slayer. And yeah, the Ascension would be a good fit. And a feud with Tyson Kidd would produce some excellent matches. I don't really like the direction WWE has taken his look and character, it doesn't really make the most of what he has to offer fans. But the new look is much better and definitely a step in the right direction.

I'll agree to that. He looks the part and he's skilled in the ring, with a good build.

Thanks for that info CactusJamie!

You're welcome Alden, and if you have any questions, ask away, I'll do my best. Gotta promote the guy as much as I can lol. We go way back. We used to have crazy basement matches with our psycho friends, until I got him the phone number for the Dungeon from the local news one day and he decided to make a career of it.

They seemed to be getting behind him at one point when they gave him Paige and Ivelisse as valets, but I believe he got injured and they haven't done a whole lot with him since. I'm a fan though and hope they definitely find a major role for him.

Yeah, he did have a knee injury back in September but came back in January and I haven't seen him on NXT yet. He wrestled some house shows since then but no TV tapings, which sucks. He's been pretty absent from Facebook lately, so haven't chatted much. He's mostly on Twitter it seems now.
