Bill DeMott or no, WWE needs to sort out why the rookies that came straight from WWE Developmental don't fare as well as the OVW trained WWE rookies. The guys who worked the indies for more than about 3 years are their own beast, and they fare better than most anyone in the wrestling department. But you can surely tell a big difference between the guys who got the bulk of their training under Cornette & co. and the fellows who got their main in-ring start after that time.

meh If he was going to pick someone from DX he could have went for Shawn to be the trainer. THat would have been cool :)
Still, could have been worse. SO long as it doesn't affect the quality of the production too much.
No idea about this naked wrestling but if that is Bills method then he deserves to go I'm afraid.

As for the move, I guess its at least somebody who was pretty over at one point in their careers. Also a guy who was in top shape himself, but Gunn never impressed me with his workrate. I can't think of one memorable match.

Basically just HHH wanting his own people in there. HBK would have been too much to ask, but Waltman would have been better than Gunn.

Billy Gunn was never a great worker says the guy with a Dolph Ziggler avatar? The same Dolph Ziggler who is consistantly compared to Billy Gunn whether it be by look or in ring style? :hmm

For the record, to those suggesting that Michaels, Waltman, or anyone else would have been a better choice, who is to say they even wanted to the roll? For example, the job would most likely invovle relocating to Florida and I would bet Michaels is enjoying his retired life in Texas. It always sucks to find out about releases no matter who it is but I see nothing wrong with a guy like Billy Gunn as a head trainer. He had a great intensity in his characters and knows the art of selling that guys like Ziggler, Slater, and Maddox are perfecting today.

Bill DeMott is a nobody and he will stay nobody. Al Snow if not working for TNA would be huge. Billy Gunn is a fine choice

The only reason DeMott was there was because he is a hard ass. He has the ability to make people quit which could be considered good in some ways, but he seems to be a mark for himself most of the times. But yeah that skipping practice for a nude stink-face probably led to his termination.

I love how all the hate has been put on Billi Gunn for his lack of perfection in the ring, yet not many mention how Hugh Morris was much better (probably worse) in the ring. It doesn't take the best in ring worker of all time to train/coach someone to excell. If that were the case, then Dan Marino would be the greatest quarterback coach of all time.

Lets be honest. There are plenty of other guys there to help with the in ring side of it. I'm pretty sure that Steamboat is full time down there.

BG is a guy who's been near the top of the wrestling business with only himself and his demons to blame. He's recovered from them and is on the straight and narrow. So from that standpoint, he is a well placed to warm the guys of the potential downfalls.

Being part of one of the greatest stables and tag teams is also another big upside to him. I imagine that he will have more automatic respect than someone like Demott who is a well known bully.

Guys. . .while Billy Gunn may not have been the best wrestler ever, how good was Bill Demott? Think about it. He fuckin sucked.

I also watched Tough Enough. Bill Demott is a shitty trainer who's opinionated to a fault. He doesn't like a guy for shitty reasons (remember Luke?), and will ride that particular guy into the ground despite his successes, then release them.

I seriously doubt the training quality will go down with Demott gone. Though Billy Gunn wasn't very charismatic or spectacular in the ring, he was always fundamentally sound. I think he's a decent choice. Yeah HBK would've been better, but I'm sure he's probably just wanting to be done with wrestling. Billy Gunn would likely be far more motivated. . .though obviously this is a HHH-friend choice.

Sean Waltman also wouldn't be a better choice than Gunn. The guy has drug problems, wasn't very good in the ring, and instead of asses to faces it's going to be crotches to faces. . .or did you guys already forget his special move, the bronco buster? Even his facebuster move was basically putting another guy's face in his crotch too. Then he'd throw down "suck it" signs before and after his matches.

LMAO beautifully argued!

Billy Gunn was an underrated worker actually, he could go. X-Pac too, fantastic wrestler when he was in shape. If Gunn is off the drugs/alcohol which I'm pretty sure he is like Road Dogg, otherwise he wouldn't have been hired, then he can be a good trainer. He clearly loves the business.
