Default One thing I noticed about NXT......

Is it just me or does it seem all the gimmicks in NXT are so different than the main roster. Each person seems to be using a gimmick and sticking with it. They all seem to have a character of some sort. Comparing to most of the main rosters, watered down, smiling or chicken shit stereotypes, NXT looks rather different.

My question is, do you feel that all these talents are gonna come to the main roster with there gimmicks and stick with it? OR will they become just like any other FCW clone when they get to the bigs?

I just cant imagine all these cool gimmicks like Dean Ambrose, Wyatt, Paige, Ascension, etc.being the exact same in the bigs.

Discuss.

I think that currently, gimmicks are only used to GET wrestlers over. Once the audience is more familiar with the wrestlers, then creative feels that they don't "need" the gimmick and it's either toned down or ditched entirely. See John Cena's transition from the rapper gimmick to his current character as an example.

I think you can say that only about heels, the babyfaces are absolutely equal and basically don't have any gimmicks at all.
And to look at the guys that were the latest talents taken from the FCW these were Cesaro and Sandow. And their gimmicks stayed exactly the same as they were in development. So if they draft guys like Ascension, Wyatt, Kruger, Ohno or else I don't see reasons for them to change their gimmicks

I kind of like Leo Krueger's deranged big-game hunter gimmick. I hope he keeps it. Possible feud with Ryback there with all the "top of the food-chain" stuff.

FCW and now NXT are amazing for development. WWE's future is bright, the talent is there, they just need the writers.

Couldnt agree with you more. The FCW 15 championship match between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose was fucking incredible. I just started watching FCW or NXT or whatever you want to call it. Ive seen better matches in the little while ive watched FCW than ive seen on the main roster in years. Hoping WWE drops the PG thing by the time these guys reach the main roster. If these guy have the ability to say and do whatever they want in the ring (within the confines of the law, of course). These wrestlers could possibly bring a re-birth of the attitude era.:Bischoff

Also, I almost forgot one thing. What chanel and day does NXT come on.

It's not on broadcast in the US. It's available on Thursday on Hulu, and shortly after that it's on the usual tube sites for a day or two.

Thanks man appreciate it. And i wasnt talking about all the weird goofy shit that WWE did during the attitude era. but have matches and storylines that actually develop and have some meaning not a feud that lasts two weeks and its over. but ambrose and rollins could be big rivalry in this company watching those two go at it reminds me Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels back in the 90s. There is almost too much talent in FCW. Hopefully soon the majority of the guys in FCW will be on the main roster.

NXT has different writers than the main shows. Everyone who wrote for FCW is now the Creative for NXT. We should stop talking about bringing Paige, Seth Rollins, and all the awesome NXT stars and start thinking about bringing the writers up to the main roster from NXT.

But we all know Step McMahon would never allow that...right?

The storylines aren't that good TBH, usually they are extremely formulaic if there is a storyline at all. What's good is the clearly defined characters and personalities of each wrestler, which make the most basic storylines seem much more logical and interesting. The thing about NXT and FCW is that the wrestlers don't really need to get over, we can just enjoy the characters and wrestling without worrying about implications for the product as a whole. It's a different story on the main roster, when they not only have to introduce those characters to the wider audience but also make sure they do so in a way that means they are capable of getting over.
