lol, I remember when they did the "know your pro" challenge, Bateman-Bryan ended up rigging the challenge and then NXT showed backstage security camera footage of them cheating lol

Re: Derrick Bateman pushing a new character

I hope he says that he supports the troops a billion times, that he opposes bullying thousands of times and I hope he endorses Linda McMahon.

It would seriously be brilliant television if he used this character to its full potential come December with the "Tribute to the Troops." Cut a lengthy promo in which he completely kisses the military's collective ass and talks about blowing people up 'cause that's what we do!

You can get so meta with this, it'd be fantastic. Like he interrupts a random Jinder Mahal promo and tells him to go back to Iraq or tells Hunico and Camacho to quit waving their Mexican flag and to stop speaking Mexican.

If you did this in most arenas, he'd be babyface by default. But then you slowly let the rubes in on the joke as it goes along.

Kind of dangerously high-concept in nature but that is why I like it.

If he endorses Linda he'll get fired. That's why AW got sacked, not the Kobe joke. WWE doesn't want any association with the campaign.

As for this character, I'm not really digging it but I guess I'd have to see it on tv to make a proper judgment. I can't stand the incessent US patriotism, though, so I'm not likely to enjoy it regardless.

Whenever I hear his name I always think of this guy:

Anyway, I can see this gimmick working but I hope they don't let it drag out for too long.

Re: Derrick Bateman pushing a new character

Derrick is a guy with some serious potential to be a big, serious star one day.
So I agree with Bully, I hope that the gimmick lasts for too long - but in on itself, it looks promising so far.

Re: Derrick Bateman pushing a new character

When I first saw the videos, I figured it was just him doing this stupid (albeit, funny) shit on the side, without any real ties to WWE. If this is something that's actually going to get on TV, I'll be shocked. That said, I hope it gets on TV.

I know what you mean, it felt as though he were making fun of people who think this way. At least I got the vibe that he could have been saying this all in humor. It seemed like he were making fun of how Americans behave, or think. Then again I couldn't imagine why he would do that. Unless of course he were looking to play the role of some elitist, politically correct, liberal.
