So Clark finally debuted with arguably one of the weirdest gimmicks I have ever seen. Reminds me a lot of a younger Goldust but with twice the athletecism. Everything That I see about this guy screams at least midcard level and for someone so new to the business without any special physical qualities, thats pretty damn great. He needs to have a feud with Goldust before Goldust retires.
You guys are truly the worst... Constantly complain about the lack of characters but once one shows up you shit on it. This gimmick is just fine. While not world champion material this gimmick is perfect for a hated midcarder.
Ever since the TE I've really, really wanted Patrick to succeed. He was the only one with love for the business. I'm so happy he's getting a big push with a gimmick is absolutely killing with. The whole package gets 2 thumbs up from me.
The kid's only 21 so he has time to develop. Didn't he use that gimmick in a challenge for Tough Enough?
I could be wrong. As for the gimmick, I like it but it needs to be backed up with personality.
I'm ok with the gimmick! This type of thing is all about the build and the booking. Unfortunately, the WWE booking is terrible. Perhaps he will have a good run in NXT, tho.
I will agree that this is a mid-card gimmick and will be very hard to break main event. Nothing wrong with that, a strong mid card is highly important.
I am a huge Prince fan and am also fond of Jimi Hendrix and 70s funk music. Velveteen is basically an amalgam of all the things I love in regards to that culture.
Credit to the man performing the gimmick as I think he has engaged himself into the skin of his character quite well so far. I liked him in his previous patriot character so he seems to be a well-rounded performer. We will see how he does in 10+ minute matches and in promos but I suppose he can go and he impressed me this week. Unfortunately these gimmicks usually have a small shelf life but hey even if he stays on the lower midcard but gets TV time every week it's better than jobbing senseless like the Ascension...
He's an annoying brat and I'm not speaking for his gimmick, this dude is legit a geek. Back to the TE days he was an uneducated, know it all bitch that couldn't keep his mouth shut, I'm glad he didn't win the show.
Gimmicks like this just don't work in Wrestling anymore. It's going to do him more harm than good. Look at Fandango and Tyler Breeze, these two are awesome wrestlers but their gimmick limits their progression. People just don't take you seriously with those type of gimmicks.
I like him. As for the gimmick he's only what 19? Its a decent enough start to get on TV and becoming a character. I look forward to seeing a young WWE guy grow like this more than " insert next TNA or indy guy".
The gimmick is meh, but he's going all in on it. Unlike Tyler Breeze or Adam Rose, who were both on the verge of getting cut prior to going all New Generation era with their characters, Patrick Clark had main event potential before choosing a low card gimmick for himself. Seems like a short-sighted move to get on tv right away.
He still has time in NXT to find a better gimmick but if he ever gets a TO match Vince will see him, and this is exactly the type of gimmick he fast tracks to the main roster and gets bored of in a few weeks. I don't think Pat is the type who'd be content sitting in catering for the rest of his career and inside of 3 years he'll be back on the indies.
