Jim Cornette calls Revival vs. Ciampa & Gargano 'a tag-team masterpiece'

On this week’s Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette and co-host Brian Last reviewed last weekend’s NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II match between The Revival and the team of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Cornette, who has praised The Revival’s previous NXT matches, said that he has a man crush on them. He praised Ciampa’s work and said that he is great. He hasn’t seen much of Gargano but he thought his work was excellent but the show was stolen by The Revival.

Cornette said that everything that The Revival does is sharp and meaningful and their psychology is great and he compared Dawson to Arn Anderson. He also loved Gargano’s spear through the ropes spot and the finish of the match and called the match a “tag team masterpiece.”
Clearly the myth that cornette hates all modern wrestling or is clueless regards modern booking (despite the fact he trained the two men who mainevented summerslam this past week) is a bit wide of the mark.

Great to see these 4 guys getting praise from all corners as they totally deserve it. I know its weird but I hope both teams stick around in nxt at least until mania 33

You call that modern wrestling  :punkout

That match had Tully/Arn vs. The Rock N Roll Express written all over it. It was like watching one of those old school NWA tag matches with the Fantastics or the Midnight Express.
Yeah it's no surprise he loves the Revival considering they are a very old school style of tag team and if nothing else a breath of fresh air in the era of "flips and dives".

Still nice to see them get praised.

It was a damn fine match. Not quite as good as Revival v American Alpha in Dallas, but very close.

Revival are the best team in the WWE now, and the match against Gargano and Ciampa was just another match on the list of fantastic matches they've had.

Cornette as Manager of the Revival would be the last piece of the puzzle for them. Superb tag team that doesn't get the respect they deserve, and what better way to get revenge on the crowd by having the one man who can piss off the people better than anyone.

This is the same man who got heel heat this past year for a 30 year old promo on food stamps.

Revival are perfect heels, they get how to make baby faces break out, and not flaky crap like what Sasha does, I'm talk substance, not that over-bearing crap. Like Sasha just knows how to be a barrier to make people climb her, and even then she isn't that good at it. Revival, their will to be champions is the barrier, and what they do in ring, is know how to get others to reveal themselves. Like when you meet a new friend who just naturally breaks you out of shells.

But seriously, Johnny is a breakout star. He just has the body and face of the "little slugger", it isn't even ultimate underdog, it is different shade of that type of thing, it is more like little guy steps up to bully type. Like its more about courage, rather than like Dbry where its more of a "conceded" heart. Like Johnny has never emotional pushed it to where he acts like he thinks he is better, and never uses that to be his driving force like Dbry.

But Ciampa just plays that more "tuned into reality" friend, who sees barriers and knows limitations of people, and his best friend Johnny is like the "younger and less experienced" type, where he only sees opportunity and so hungry he is blind sided to reality, so when he failed, Ciamp played off him so dam good. But when they came together to almost win, jesus christ...Easily the best tag team match of all time, 5* among tag matches.

These 3 matches:
-Johnny beating Ciampa
-Johnny losing CWC
-Fighting Revival

^-Just between those 3 matches, I've seen more character depth than I've seen in guys who worked a whole year. Like these guys know how to let us see them from the inside, and best part, Revival knows how to break down others and open them up (figuratively)

If anything I say doesn't make sense, it is because I had hard to finding words to explain things.

Being a huge fan of Gargano & Ciampa's wrestling I was foolishly expecting them to beat Dash & Dawson but common sense says that its eventually going to be Ellering's Authors of Pain.
Revival will be having a decent 2nd run before dropping the titles though especially as NXT needs a few more fresh tagteams before Revival and Ciampa/Gargano get pushed onto main shows. (Least I hope Ciampa/Gargano do)
