Fulton is looking better than I've seen since well, forever. The more badass look works way better than his previous gimmicks and when he loses it and goes into hulk mode he is genuinely intimidating. He's got the size to be a serious heel.
Dawkins tho? Don't see anything there. Smooth around the ring but usually forgotten what happened in his matches pretty quick.
Dawkins has pizazz at least he has the curse of greatness going for him. I seriously forget the last time Fulton made a impression that lasted other then when he came to the ring with bandannas tried all over his arms and legs. His hair looks cool...I'm just worried for him is all. Even Tucker Knight is getting over along with Hugo.......
The bandana thing was crap. The more badass ,less college boy, look he has now is a big step forward. He could be a genuinely intimidating heel with the physical presence to work on tv. A few weeks back against bamf he came over well. He also did pretty well in the promo with Dawkins.
Dawkins and pizzazz are not two words I associate. Having two headbands stolen is not much of a gimmick. Spends too much time lying on the mat doing facelocks and other moves that just have no impact
gravenbabies you saw some of shoot nation at house shows, right? would either fulton or dawkins have benefited from that stable being kept alive?
I know it was supposed to be a vehicle for gable to get over but with the two of them being paired it's also done wonders for jj too.
The overall problem I have with this man is his look and personality. I have noticed the subtle changes in look over the months and he should keep that going until he gets his own "look". It seems like many stars forget about creating this other person. You are on television, it's time to create a real life alter ego of yourself. It's like a switch has to go off and let the individual know that they are in the WWE. You are acting more than you are wrestling.
Where is the nickname? How about the entrance that separates you from the rest of the pack? None of these things make up Sawyer's personality. What kind of name is Sawyer Fulton? Far too generic and normal. I get, we don't want names like "The Mountie", or "The Genius" with nothing coming after. Why not a name like Magnum Sawyer? He could be a Conservative, Bible reading, rifle shooting, South Dakota boy. Yes, he is from Ohio, but remember this is a fictional character. His finisher could be called "357". It would basically be his version of The Heart Punch. Perhaps give him a submission. I think having this big man tap people out would really give him an edge as well. His amateur wrestling background should be essential in his ring work, I want to see him tapping people out, or working plenty of submissions.
Maybe baffled is the word I should of used instead of worried?
I've been to my fair share of house shows Dawkins at least is some what interesting, Fulton is boring I've lost interest in even taking his picture and yes I fear that if he doesn't get it together he will be gone....I don't hate the guy but it Baffles me on why he's still around....lots of new guys are so good like Woods and Noah hell even Riddick Moss even though he does that stupid dance.
Yeah, opinions are always gonna differ, and Fulton and Dawkins are often pretty one-paced at the house shows I've seen. Where I see something in Fulton is that in some tv matches, he can go into a higher gear and genuinely looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with.
Moss is getting strong booking. He beat Swann recently and it looks like he's going to rise pretty fast. Can't be long until he debuts. Woods is way underused and haven't seen enough of Kekoa to know. The house shows could be run to get more useful time for the wrestlers. These dancing segments that are happening. They aren't that entertaining any more. Royal Rumbles use a lot of people but are meaningless and they take a lot of time. I get they want to avoid 8 straight plain vanilla matches but they could add some match interference every few weeks, a random legend or main roster star comes in to help announce (like sometimes happens already) but without taking much time.
Why's everyone hating on Fulton? He seems like a decent enough talent. He's like the same size as Corbin, has amateur wrestling ability and in that tag match about 2 months ago looked pretty explosive. Maybe not great, but considering the obvious traits he holds he's worth holding on to.
He has been given shit gimmick after shit gimmick though. And now they seem to be reverting back to that awful "he walks with needles in his boots" weirdo gimmick. :what?
I think he could have a bright future if they let him work stiff and he kinda emulates a bit of an 80s/90s wrestling style combination of amateur wrestling and say, near-Vader stiffness.
It's an I-don't-like-this-guy thread. Fulton's got the basics there - the size, and now look, to be a credible heel. He's always been technically able and he can perform on tv. He needs to (1) forget the dumb totally made-up gimmicks and (2) look at what Gable has done in translating from being an amateur wrestler into a NXT star.
All the ammy guys seemed to think that by showing they were "real" wrestlers, wearing headgear and doing another headlock on the mat, everyone would be impressed. They weren't. It's why nobody watches amateur wrestling. Jordan used to do this, Dawkins does it, Fulton does it. Gable keeps enough of the look and technical moves in there to let us know he has the real wrestling ability but adds a whole lot of visually impressive pro style on top. I don't think we'll see the Grand Amplitude at the next Olympics but it sure works in NXT. Yes, Gable has natural charisma too that I don't see others matching there but they can pick up some of his work.
Fulton needs to keep the ammy background as the foundation to get instant basic credibility but add on the pro moves that have visual impact. Don't try the speed that Gable uses but use the moves that work for 6'6" guys: chokeslams, German suplexes..... Mix that in with the intensity from the match against BAMF a few weeks back and you've got an upper mid-card heel who can translate to main roster.
Do you have any solid proof of that? Because I can't believe it. I remember Sami Zayn talking about the only reason he got that name (after being denied multiple times) was because he went directly to Dusty. If Sami Zayn can't even decide on his name I don't see why they'd let Sawyer Fulton decide on his gimmick.
And who in the right mind would willingly be the 'freak with pins in his boots'?
From what I've heard they pick a lot of names gimmicks whatever and then run them by whoever is in charge
They pick because..... they're the ones that have to believe in it and sell it....
A long while back we were talking to a backstage source at a show and actually asked "What the hell is up with Sweet Sawyer? Who did he piss off?" We were assured that it was all Fulton.
These guys usually come up with their own gimmick, of course it has to be approved by management. Same goes for their names, too. They come up with their own list of names and narrow it down with management.
Yea breh, look at his hair. Dude is clearly weird and probably thinks the pins thing makes him seem badass. Plus there's the .00072% chance that he actually does do that in real life.
If they change his gimmick he should also change his, IMO Sawyer Fulton is the most garbage name you can ever come up with.
