Of all the other stuff that happened on the show - I definitely want to make mention of Dana Brooke who was really good in a spot that I don't think enough people are going to give her credit for
Asuka made her look good, but it was very obvious she was light years better than her. Asuka is the best wrestler in ring on the roster. She just needs to learn psychology.
I really like Dana. Everyone just has to give her a chance to improve, she's not going to be a star over night. Watch Charlotte and Sasha's earlier matches, they didn't look all that good in the beginning..
I thought she did a great job and her facial expressions were on point in that situation.
Asuka kicked her ass and I thought the match was booked perfectly.
For the first time ever, Dana looked pretty average in the ring, as opposed to shitty.
Considering how solid she's been in backstage segments lately, she may finally be coming around and earning some of that praise some of you were mighty quick to heap on her.
despite it seeming like a big thing, NXT is still only a developmental program. So it's there for the likes of Dana Brooke (who isn't very good) to learn her craft, get better and improve in a TV environment.
I think Dana did a great job. Going from facing Carmella & Blue Pants to facing Asuka is like going from facing Roadblock to Dean Malenko in the old WCW. Yes Asuka carried her, but she didn't stand out like a sore thumb.
I've liked watching Dana progress. Her character is great, she's a perfect heel, everything about her just makes you wish she's get her head kicked in. And Asuka is the kind of person to kick your head in. I think Dana was a really good choice for Asuka's first match, and Dana did not look out of place at all. Dana is learning, and that's the foundation NXT is built on.
I was quite proud of the Killer Barbie, especially how stiff she was with Asuka. Dana's problem so far is that she's been scared of hurting somebody so she's been throwing pussy ass strikes. This is exactly the benefit I was hoping Asuka would bring: toughening these bitches up. Next up should be Bliss and Carmella.
I didn't like the story of the match or build, it made Dana look weak. If you were going to point out that she was going to get borked then she should've had control at the beginning of the match in a "we underestimated Dana" angle. I'll like the story a lot more if it causes Dana to go on a tear through NXT to prove she's just as good leading to a rematch but there's nobody for her to wrestle. All the people on her level are heels except Carmella (Emma, Bliss, Nia, Eva), Bayley and Asuka are above her and Peyton and Billie are below her.
I've loved and been a fan of Dana since her debut, there's something about her that just says she's got IT. As others have said, I've also enjoyed watched her improve and develop and she definitely is the perfect heel Diva on NXT right now. Just watched her match Asuka and it was a really great showing for her. A lot of people are saying that she was carried but I think Dana really held her own. It is NXT and she can only get better and I'm here for everything she does.
Dana is showing that she is trying to improve each time she steps in the ring. She already has her character and personality down, now she just needs to be at least crisp in the ring. I like her so far and hope she keeps getting better.
For Dana to handle herself the way she had against a Japanese Legend in Kana/Asuka is a testament to her being able to carry herself in a match with more experienced wrestlers, yeah she was outclassed & outwrestled but that was expected, what mattered was she endured the match without any mistakes and managed to keep to Asuka's fast pace. Hoping there will be more matches to come from these two.
Dana did well last night and should be lauded for her continued improvement. She's a natural heel and she and Ema really complement each other. Hope this improvement curve for her continues upwards..
I was really suprised emma didnt cause a dq. It seems asuka has emma next. If so, what happens with bayley? A dq would give emma a title shot and dana and asuka could still feud.
I guess they could still do that feud, but it seems pointless
To my knowledge, only ONE wrestling alumnus (Taz) gave Dana props for hanging with Asuka. Everyone else just praised Asuka and ONLY Asuka (who will definitely go down as a bonified star in NXT, easily. So don't call me a hater, as I'm not). But since this thread is about Dana, I'll just stick with Dana. She has progressed quicker than most will give her credit for. It's obvious she wants to be better, which is all any real wrestling fan can ask of wrestlers.
Right now, it is Dana vs the world, and there's far more people AGAINST her personally than FOR her (and I'm not speaking about her character, I'm talking about the person). One day, I want to see her reach the top and prove everyone wrong. I don't give a damn about the IWC's feelings...I'm not ashamed to be a Dana Brooke fan.
Dana is already extremely comfortable on the mic and camera. Compared to the other walk ons, aka prior non-indys.
Were talking about Asuka, she is a total badass. Dana Brooke only needs maybe another year in the ring and she will be awesome. You can barely see Emma in Dana's shadow and Emma was decent.
I rather have Dana's hotness, personality and mic skills, than whatever Emma has, which was once decent ring skills. You can train Dana, much quicker than you could teach Emma charisma and confidence.
Keep it going Dana, so glad that more people start giving her credit for that.
