He's boring, yes he has in ring skills but that doesn't cut it, in the business you need charisma, mic skills, great storyline.
He has a cool entrance?
Nice, that doesn't cut it.
He has a documentary about his life?
Nice, I don't care about his life though, tell me about who his character is, because if it's his real life persona, then it's boring, the stuff he did in the past stays in the past, show us who you are, not what you did.
He needs to be developed, I swear I feel they only put the title of him because he was hot in japan and they happened to go there. get the title off him, give it to someone who's the total package, give the title more prestige.
His promos do need to improve, but he is like Jeff Hardy where he has charisma but can't talk for shit. Working in Japan for most of your career can be terrible for your promo skills since promos aren't a big thing there, it's all ring work. He may be great in the ring and has a good entrance (which he was doing in Japan) but when it comes to promos he is just as new to it as Eva Marie or Dana Brooke is. If he could talk, he'd be on the roster already.
Unfortunately we are in for at least a 6 month reign, as that's been the case with every other champion except Zayn. They really fucked up by not turning this guy heel. He can still sell his paint merch, just look at Kevin Owens, who's probably outselling him due to main roster exposure alone. They have no choice but to build up Corbin with the quickness for a monster heel run, or fast track Apollo Crews.
I think Jeff Hardy had a lot more natural charisma than Balor...who is just all looks.
Owens was a good champ, probably should have kept the belt on him a little longer. Sadly, I don't know who else in NXT right now would make a good champ other than Owens, who they are not likely to put the belt back on. Title scene is kind of bland at the moment. Owens is a hard act to follow
As the title scene is currently so boring and limited, why not try a shock champion? They showed when they put the tag belts on B&M that they're not afraid to make brave decisions, so i have the perfect idea for NXT champion: Simon Gotch. He's unique, he's charismatic, he can talk, he can work, and more importantly, he's over as fuck. The Vaudevillains can stay as Tag champs, but have Gotch have a singles run on the side.
I've racked my brains, and aside from Sami (who's hurt), Owens (who's done with NXT now) and Breeze (who they won't make champ for some reason), there really isn't anyone that sounds like a good champion. Gotch as champ would at least be entertaining, something that can't be said for Balor, Corbin or Joe.
Jesus, this took a turn real fast. Who is he even feuding with? Has a story line even began yet? Shit might start popping when Hideo comes back. Maybe Finn did it? :banderas

yes take the title off a guy who as champion drew the biggest gate in nxt history by a country mile, smart business
if someone was the total package wouldn't they be already fast-tracked to the main roster not staying down in nxt working 400 seat armouries every weekend
I personally don't get the hype for Finn Balor at all. If they were gonna have a little dude be NXT champion, I would've preferred they kept Neville in NXT. They're about the same size, and both are charisma-less, sure, but I'll watch Neville perform 10/10 times over Balor. Neville is actually impressive between the ropes, whereas Balor is just okay.
I don't get him. He's boring to listen to, he's boring to watch and, other than his theme song, I don't get a damn thing about him.
Hopefully someone actually entertaining takes the strap off of him soon. He's has made a once thrilling NXT title scene very boring, IMO.
I was enjoying Owens as NXT's Brock Lesnar. I wanted him to break Balor and put him out of action for a few weeks. Then put some body paint on himself and mock Balor's entrance at the next show
That would have been perfect. Kinda want to see Owens destroy someone like The Undertaker or Triple H and do something like that and mock their entrances (not gonna happen) but it would be funny.
Actually surprised he didn't do it to Cena after he beat him at Elimination Chamber.
When it comes to Finn, a little indifferent, he's a good wrestler, with a good entrance. Maybe is cause I'm not paying as much attention to him as I did Sami, Owens, or Neville. But I don't like or dislike him.
I mean if Finn does a short heel turn so he can drop it to Hideo, who then has a short reign ended by Corbin, maybe we'll get somewhere. Willing to give Corbin as a monster heel champion a chance even if it doesn't compare to Owens.
I would say coming out of takeover Joe is the number 1 contender. Read they will put them together in the tag team tournament where they will set up their feud.
I'm glad everyone else is starting to see what I've been saying for a long time, the main event scene isn't going to get better anytime soon with Balor being the only full time wrestler in it; though I suspect Crews will be fast tracked like every indie signing. With Itami and Zayn out for the rest of the year and 2 Takeovers left I imagine Breeze will be built up for another title loss and maybe Joe will be the other if they want to save Crews.
You know what? Fuck it, push Prince Pretty. At least he's be a fucking entertaining champion. He's been around long enough that you can sell people on his veteran experience. Honeslty, I'd rather see him as champ than Balor
He should be the fucking champ. He's one of their best workers, talkers, he's massively over as a simultaneous heel and face with his gimmick, and he's anything but boring. But he won't be champ for some reason or other
I want Breeze to be champion as much as everyone else, but I've accepted his role as the (pre 2015) Dolph Ziggler of NXT who just has pointless, well worked, mid card matches. His gimmick has a ceiling and he gets pushed further and further back in the line with every new indy signing :mj2.

I've got no issue with Indy signings (hell, my current favourite wrestler was an indies guy), i'd just wish they'd use some of their own guys a bit better. Breeze could be a good stopgap NXT champ until Sami's fit again, or he could be useful on the main roster trying to bring some legitimacy back to the IC title.
I knew taking the title off Owens was a mistake. That NXT heel run was too good to be wasted on Borelor. Such a waste just to put over that shitty "feel good" homecoming.
Well if reports are to be believed, it was actually supposed to be Itami that won the title in Tokyo, but he's hurt. Which begs the question, why didn't they just keep the belt on KO until Itami recovered?
I honestly thought if I saw him live my feelings would change but it didnt. However I came out of the live experience loving Owens even more ;shrug. Perhaps if he turned heel it could help him? Perhaps a manager? He looks good in a suit, maybe something with that. Idk. I agree his does need something different because for whatever reason I don't find him interesting in or outside of the ring yet.
