Anybody else find it weird that WWE is starting to acknowledge outside companies more now? All the promotions in the Balor doc, this photo and I heard that they mentioned Dragon Gate during Neville's match with Jericho. Just strikes me as odd that they seems to have changed company policy on other wrestling companies in the space of a month.
With all the talent coming in from various promotions it was bound to happen at some point. I mean a lot of these guys have been in the business for years. In this age of being able to get any information at your fingertips, it would be stupid to not at least mention a talent's past.
It's better than nothing, and they shouldn't be paranoid in telling fans where the wwe stars came from. The majority of wwe fans will never see that pic and look up Iwgp or okada. Of those who do, most of THE wouldn't become fans because you know the announcers don't speak englidh.
Part of the reason why WWE even bothers mentioning and retweeting puro related matters is that those promotions aren't direct competition. It's somewhat of a different market altogether.
But even so these recent mentions are somewhat groundbreaking.
