Is Finn Balor finally evolving his gimmick?

It seems Balor is now doing the gimmick I suggested a couple months ago, and is becoming wrestling version of Jekyll/Hyde.

This, imo, is all he needed in order to flesh out a deeper character beyond the world travelled wrestler who likes body paint.

Thoughts on the evolved direction of his character?

Balor is awesome but he can be a normal dude that has a dark side. It doesn't have to cause any sort of extended conflict in the character.

I wouldn't be against them doing a Jekyll and Hyde scenario but there's only so many times you can do the Incredible Hulk "you won't like me when I'm mad" scenarios, especially considering that feuds in WWE are usually of a personal nature.

It'd be nice to see this actually happen @THANOS but the fact it has taken this fucking long, and possibly only because he doesn't get inherently great reactions based on his name, is ridiculous. It's as if they... I don't know... waited... until those fans that mark for guys based on their name, grew tired of marking over hype. Like it's a marketing ploy to keep it from becoming "stale" despite it being stale the entire time until now.

He should be doing this on the main roster not NXt.
His perfect feud for the main roster is Bray Wyatt.

You get Bray to keep taunting him to let his demon out. then finally at the PPV its demon vs Bray.

Basically let Bray win some and lose some as himself but then when he is the Demon is when he is undertaker like and rarely ever loses.
He does not even have to be the demon at every PPV just the big matches.

That sounds awesome man, I'd love to see that feud on the main roster, it could be amazing if done the right way.

In what way is this an "evolution"? How does this translate to a wrestling character? Is he going to start spending more time crawling around and being a 'demon' now or what?
Well if you're familiar with the characters Jekyll and Hyde, then the hope is that he'll be a tortured and deep character now that can use that part of the gimmick in his future feuds.

Just look like hype for the Tokyo show and nothing really character changing imo, the hype is on Bálor cause he's huge in Japan and he's probably winning the title, but I don't see him becoming more demon like from this promo.

And thank god really, just let it be paint, I don't want supernatural demon Bálor, ever since Wyatt I've had it with supernatural gimmicks.

There should be something that turns on the "Demonic" side of Balor. I think they need to take this to the next step if indeed they are trying to introduce a duel threat. There should be something physical that exist which turns the Demon loose. Perhaps a "Diamond" which is present in the hands of an unknown? I think Adam Rose should be come this evil presence in a black robe which discovers this demonic being and it's powers over Balor. Rose can be this part time influence on Balor. Rose claims that the Diamond and it's power over Balor can't be abused. He who holds it for too long, there hand will turn to stone. Basically modern day arthritis, but to the most ridiculous extent where your hand is basically frozen, not really a stone. This diamond is worn as a medallion on the chest of Rose. Surrounded by pure silver so to tame it's powers. Once released from it's hold, the demon is loose.

Rose says the man who takes the diamond will forever release the demon that is Balor. Meaning he will permanently. Balor will sustain this heel look and act. It's almost like the urn for The Undertaker, except better. Balor doesn't need it, but it gives him supernatural power that he cannot explain. However, his face side is perfectly fine with not receiving help from a demon who's soul is trapped inside of. Eventually a darker force is gradually ready to take this "Diamond". Enter in...

Bray Wyatt, the eater of Worlds. What people don't realize, including Bray is that it brings out the darker side yourself. Bray will find that he is even more vile and corrupt than he originally thought. The Diamond would fall into his hands. Wyatt would already design a pure silver cover for it, in order to keep himself from harm. Wyatt becomes this monster and places the WWE under chaos. All do what they can to reclaim the diamond for themselves, but Balor knows he has to keep it with him in order to keep the peace in the WWE.

His gimmick only needs to change when he goes full on heel akin to what we saw of him in Japan in his later moments with Bullet Club. I do not think we will see that happen for a long time since he is incredibly unique and talented right now not needing to change at all honestly. He just needs to do more which it looks as he is i suspect he will win at Japan due to Joe getting involved.

But Hardy got over and earned the fans respect by doing crazy shit like throwing himself off the top of scaffolding, and doing it on a regular basis. And Hardy had an extremely distinctive look and appeal as a Gen X rocker type in an era when that was very popular. And Hardy made his name as part of a tag-team with his brother, and was a jobber and underdog for about 10 years so had a huge connection with the fans by the time he finally made it to the main event. Balor has none of that shit. In fact Jeff Hardy is only three years older than Finn Balor so it's not like he even has time on his side.

The demon idea is cool, but they have to find a way to give it a meaning. Here is how I'll do it:

When Itami is back they should feud. He comes back as a heel and accuses Bálor of being the one who injuried him. Bálor denies it and keeps trying to remind to Itami that they are friends and there is no reason for that.

In the end Itami crosses the line, Bálor gets real mad, turns heel and releases the demon in a hard to watch beating while Hideo asks for mercy. At that point you have two options: Bálor gets "controlled" by the demon, beating everyone left and right, or he comes back to his senses, hugs it out with Itami and the "trying to control the dark side" thing begins.

That's a really good idea, but making a non heel ask for mercy would just make him look like a little bitch, so I'd probably just have him beat Itami to the point where he's unconscious instead.
