This saturday marks 2 years of Sami Zayn in developmental.

4 days ago he celebrated his 13th year as a pro wrestler.

Can't wait until he beats Kevin Owens at the next special to become the first ever 2-time developmental Champion in the history of this business.

Now excuse me whilst I go weep at how sad and pathetic that is. What a waste of a career all because of one senile old fool.

I posted this before. But saying he is such an amazing superstar is a joke. lets compare his entrance and presence to some true legends:

People talk about crowd connection? Zayn got smarks cheering for him. So did adam rose. It mans nothing. There is nothing really good about Zayn. Compare to this video and see why zayn has no charisma, just compare to this. Anyone in this match is about 7 levels above zayn, come on people. I would rather watch this dudes entrances on repeat than 7 hours of zayn in any capacity:

I actually value the NXT title on par or above the IC title at the moment, so there's nothing wrong with Zayn being on NXT. He's being used very well there and is under the WWE banner. There's nothing sad or pathetic about that. Because of NXT we got to SEE Owens vs Zayn on that kind of stage. There are many folks who didn't follow him or Owens on the indy scene and that was the first taste they got. I'm sure those fans appreciate it.

Being on NXT isn't a bad thing. Right now, it's the place to be; it's a very hot product. And him being in the industry this long is another good thing. He's already seasoned, instead of being grossly undercooked like Roman Reigns. So I'd rather watch Zayn over Reigns.

He'll be on the main roster soon enough (when the time and creative reasons are right), but I don't consider what he's doing now a waste. Not in the least bit.

What are everyones thoughts on becoming a two-time developmental Champion?

Because that just sounds sad and pathetic. I have no idea what Zayn is supposed to be ''developing''. How can he be any worse than Curtis Axel who is getting pushed to the moon again and facing Cena on Raw.

Wow, time flies. It's a shame though, yeah being lost in the shuffle sucks but Zayn deserves to have been making SERIOUS BANK by now. Not developmental roster peanuts :(

Also, I'm seriously considering flying to Europe because for some reason they get to see Zayn wrestle and NA doesn't. And I'm not flying to Florida, don't even suggest that.

NXT is grown beyond being a mere developmental program now.
It's surpassing the main roster in a lot of ways. It's certainly been superior recently in terms of in ring action and storytelling.
Zayn's better off in NXT the now. Vince and Dunn would only devalue and mis-use him if he went to the main roster.

I've thought for a while now that they have the potential here for something special. Bring the product on the road and see how they fare. If there is upside there, maybe have Trips defect and start running things as GM. Have him start recruiting some WWE guys, preferably former-Indy stars - which IMO would make more sense.

IMO, this will get more of the casuals interested in NXT to see some of their favorites(whether it be Ambrose/Bryan/Rollins/Cesaro). Make or break will be the first WWE vs NXT PPV though. That's where NXT will really need to sell the rest of the casuals on their product. If it's a hit, I can see it taking off and becoming another full-blown "promotion"(still technically WWE, but big enough to sell the illusion that it could actually compete with WWE at PPV events, which ideally would only be the Big-4: WM, Rumble, Summerslam, Survivor Series).

I really think that it's worth of a shot like this. The wrestling quality is obvious, but you just never know how over these guys truly will be until you get them away from Full Sail.

Sami Zayn a victim of being too good should have been called up long ago wasting his prime in nxt. Balor, Owens and Neville don't need to be there anymore they have adapted to the wwe style what's point of them being there?. Their brilliance in the ring has set expectations to high for the lesser experienced talent.

Up until a couple months ago Zayn's entire character was "nice guy who is a good wrestler." I'm not seeing that as something that gets over on the main roster.

Now, "nice guy who is a good wrestler and is mad because ... a mean guy beat him" is cash money.

Seriously, he needs to develop a gimmick/character.

His El Generico character was perfect in my opinion and they dropped the ball here. They stripped him of his character to build something different, and it's okay but it does not set him apart.

It was different, unique. Heck just put him back under the mask.

HHH is longing for a masked man to appeal to kids. Zayn could fill that role. They want to sell merch? Put out masks like they did with Rey. A wrestler who would appeal to both indy fans and kids.

But that's just my opinion. He had a character that was good.

Within the 2 years of Sami Zayn arriving in NXT, consider the body of work he's created. Amazing Matches of the Year with Cesaro. Fantastic NXT TV and Takeover special matches! Sami has been flown in/out of Abu Dhabi as a WWE spokesperson. He will be a great WWE star when the time is right. Time will show us.

I want the guy to make money, but I also know he will just be treated as a joke on the main roster, so I don't know what to root for. His last appearance on NXT will be the last time you will ever see him in a 15-20 minute match that feels important, so I'll just enjoy it while it lasts.

His career would be a waste being in midcard no man's land being misused by Vince. Him being in NXT is a godsent. We don't want Sami being ruined now right OP?

Eh, kinda depressing that he's still in NXT when he's been ready for the main roster for so long.

I was cleaning up some files on my computer recently and came across an old Wrestling Observer Live where a caller suggested Zayn debut the night after WM, and Bryan Alvarez said it was a good idea but foolish to hold off on his debut for so long.

The file was from the summer of 2013

Even if Sami is ready, I wouldn't have him debut on the main roster until after WM. Every main show is going to be focusing to rivalries/matches for WM at this point, so he would certainly get lost in the shuffle. They should do what they did with Paige and have him show up the night after WM.

NXT > main roster.

Yeah sure when you are on the main roster you are probably given a severely improved pay and are given more exposure but at least on NXT, the wrestlers are treated respectfully, perform with great fans supporting them and providing an electric atmosphere, and aren't just lost in the mid card shuffle that is Raw and Smackdown.
