He's 35 years old at this point, so my question is, do you think HHH makes a play for him to use him in NXT (either briefly until shooting to the main roster, or to stay on NXT for an extended period of time as a vet), and do you think Joe would even be interested?
Or do you think he goes to NJPW, Lucha Underground or retires?
Personally, I think if they signed Steen at his weight, I don't see why they wouldn't sign Joe, especially given their love for Samoan descendants. The only real factors would be his age and the contract he'd demand.
So do you guys think he could turn around his career in NXT, if he were signed, and would the new surroundings re-invigorate his passion?
Joe is WAYYYY past his prime. This is 5 years too late, and 2010 would've still been pushing it. He's a shell of himself and we already have an agile fat man in Steen, so he'd serve no purpose since Steen kills him in every other category as well.
I'm not going to disagree too much but there are few wrestlers on Earth that could even make the claim of being better than Owens. Being compared to Joe or Owens is a compliment.
Triple H is well-aware that NXT caters primarily to a different demographic than the mainstream RAW audience, as he noted in the most recent NXT conference call.
If he wants to turn NXT into a national touring brand, bringing in a guy like Joe or Rhino is a great way to add more to the "super-indy" vibe of NXT already has and push some extra ticket sales.
Itami vs Joe, Rhino vs Steen, Bubba Ray vs Balor, etc. can add some extra flavor to an NXT live event.
Precisely. NXT while still the developmental territory, is also one of the main attractions to the hardcore fans of the network. If you take away the so called "indy" guys. You would have a bunch of green horns maineventing these shows, and it would be like a Superstars or Velocity. With how important this show is to the network, and with HHH wanting to tour it nationally, the thought of bringing in Samoa Joe is alot more plausible than it was a year ago. I still think it is unlikely but I would not be so dissmissive of it.
I dont think they will because of his age and his physique is worse than Hero's was. If NXT were to make an offer, I bet they'd low ball him just to see how desperate he is. I would love to see him go there. So many great potential clashes with Owens, Balor , itami, et al. I go back with him to early ROH and TNA and I wish the best for him.
Don't think so. If Styles didn't get at least an offer, I doubt Joe will. I just don't see Triple H going for Joe at this point in his career. In his mind, he has guys better for that role that are younger and won't expect as much money.
Re: Samoa Joe is now a free agent! Would he be a good fit in the WWE?
And that is the crux of it all.. Also we have to consider would they try to run him through NXT, and would he even want to put up with that?
He would probably be better off going to a more "big fish in a small pond" type of setting if having to start over in the late 30s. That or who knows, he might just retire, we'll see in the coming weeks.
Re: Samoa Joe is now a free agent! Would he be a good fit in the WWE?
Joe and the WWE are not a good fit for each other. Certainly not at this stage of his career. It has been a while since he was a hot property with anything but diehards. Joe would almost certainly have no impact on the product and would be misused to boot.

I just dont see WWE in his future. The ship sailed on that many years ago. Can only see him going to Japan or maybe just roaming the indy circuit here.
With the way NXT is going (catering to older, more hardcore fans), I could see Joe going there. Stranger things have happened, like me seeing Zayn vs Owens on WWE TV in 2015.
That said, Joe's prime is long gone. He's still great, but if he goes to WWE, that's not the same Joe from 2006. Not sure what else he can add to the table that they can't get from elsewhere on the roster with much younger guys.
I'd rather him go to NJPW, slap around the Bullet Club, hoss it up with Ishii, flip off Nakamura, and give Okada a muscle buster. Just let Joe be a grumpy gaijin tweener. He'd be treated better there a lot faster, but WWE is a gamble. If he wants to seriously give it a go, he has to NOW. Cut weight and be 100% motivated to succeed in WWE. If that's what he wants to do, NXT is where he has to start just like everyone else.
And to the folks saying "WWE already has athletic fat guys" take into consideration Joe's character is way different than Rusev, Wyatt, or Owens. Going to NXT would help establish that. It's up to him, but I'd rather him go to NJPW just because that style fits his better and selfishly want to see more match ups with him there than WWE.
Re: MetsFan4Ever: Triple H is interested in Samoa Joe
Maybe the WWE is looking to produce their own version of The Biggest Loser. I thought they had a fetish with midgets, but holy shit have they been signing a lot of disgusting fat fucks lately.

Those "fat fucks" can out wrestle quite a fair amount of guys that have "da look" who spend all this time in the gym. Lifting weights is hardly a talent nor is this a beauty contest but hey if you only want to stare a talentless hacks with only "da look" for them, maybe you should watch mr.olympia contests , that seems far more up your ally
Maybe if he has saved up his money but he could make more money in the indies.
