So, these guys won the tag titles last night. Definitely cool to see a title change on the weekly shows, and these guys are energetic and have shown flashes of exciting in-ring ability.

I'm a little concerned with what we have seen character wise, however. We have gotten 2 promos from them and their gimmick appears to be "overly enthusiastic butt buddies" which I'm not sure will fly after repeated exposure.

What could these guys do to give themselves a little more of a hook?

I don't like this one bit. I have them at the bottom of the NXT tag division and I would even prefer Jordan and Dillinger over them.

If they were going to do this they might as well have had the Vaudevillains, who have actually developed characters, beat the Lucha Dragons.

OR... and this is a crazy idea.

MAYBE give the most over tag team in NXT the titles, they are the realest guys in the room after all.

I haven't marked like that until Bryan won the title at WM30. Jesus fucking Christ. I need to calm down.

Anyway, who needs gimmicks in NXT? Apparently if you're at the top of the card you don't, but if you're not, you do? If anything it should be the OTHER way around.

I can't think of a gimmick for these guys right now but I don't really care. I'm enthusiastic that they're champions, as well as Lucha Dragons not being champions, but mostly them being champions.

:yes

What's wrong with that? Kalisto had like two or three matches before trumping the Ascension with a jobber tag team partner.

So far they're a couple decent workers with a mid 90's look and no personality.
Is it only a problem that they have no personality because they're not big indie names?

The Lucha Dragons losing the titles I think is just because Kalisto is going to be called for RAW and Smackdown.

Buddy is the real deal. He is a pretty good wrestler, and Blake is good too. I didn't see them on the mic yet so I don't know... The crowd love this tag team for now and they are good in the ring so let's give BaM a opportunity.

I don't mind them, actually it was surprising and kind of exciting to see them win. They seem like a good tag team in-ring wise. I definitely agree that they need some kind of gimmick or character or something because right now I'm just getting a white-Uso vibe from them and that's not a good thing.

I hope this means the Lucha Dragons are moving up to the main roster though. They'd absolutely kill it up there with the crowds and we could really use another face tag team.

hopefully this is a step towards some mic time/character work because that's what we need to see from them.

We already know they can go, show us some more!

BaM are an awesome team and Murphy is one of the bigger talents in NXT right now. HE has a real intensity that could work in a main event.

Great that they won the title but way too soon. Something weird has happened in NXT creative for this to happen so quick from almost nowhere. Could be that Kalisto needs to move up to main roster. After the Vaudevillains spent so much time as challengers it just makes no sense.

Still, good luck and hope they do well. They have put on some great matches already

Is Wesley Blake a non-indy/WWE guy? Because it seems like the commentary were hyping him up way more than Buddy Murphy who was in fact, an indy guy. Like when they said shit like Wesley Blake is the purest wrestler on NXT, they seem to be more keen on him than they do with Murphy.

It's because Blake was trained by Dory Funk Jr. and worked with Lawler in his "first match back" from his heart attack in 2013. And to be fair he seems like a good talent.

Murphy however was trained by nobody (Wikipedia reports him as trained by Lance Storm however I am FAIRLY SURE Murphy was trained entirely in Australia) that WWE knows, and nobody reputable worldwide.

edit: They removed Storm from his Wikipedia. :hmm:

Murphy can definitely do the intensity on the mic to match his work in the ring based on what I've seen from Oz wrestling clips.

If he can bring that, it opens up a unique place for him on the roster...no-one has done the intense wrestler thing well for a while now.
