I am completely in favor of getting rid of all TV shows except the live Monday Night Raw.
The thing that WWF at the time did SO well in 1997-2000 was the end of Raw cliffhanger. Especially in the go home show before a PPV. And the 3 weeks without a PPV you'd have 6 full days to ponder and think trying to figure out what was going to happen next. It drew you into the show the following week. And it was fun.
That mystique is gone. Because if there is a cliffhanger, the next night you turn on the internet and you read what happened at the taped Smackdown.
So I think you're on to it. It's not going to happen though because that means loss of money. But one of the main problems with modern WWE in my opinion is too many shows.
To tell you the truth, I was never a fan of them airing Smackdown even when it first started in 1999. I was happy because it meant another two hours of action but I always go by the 'less is more' approach, and half the fun of wrestling is waiting for the best moments to happen anyway. I can understand them keeping Smackdown for that brand split (was never a fan of that either), but now that's gone, it's useless clutter.
Anyway, I'm digressing from the thread topic, and you're right they will never get rid of it, but it's something to ponder.
I guess El Local is formerly El Generico? Since they are starting a tag team division why not have The Hollywood Express as a tag team? I swear they had a video package with Dalton, and Woods about 6 months ago floating around. Would have been nice to see Neville with Grey vs Dalton, and Woods. Why not Pair up Gavin Reid with Mason Ryan? Those two would make a solid tag team. I can't stand Ohno, and Kruger at all. Ohno does not need to be held down by that jobber.
Good to see Connor O'Brien on his own. Seems as though Connor may be the next NXT Champion. I like that he is still keeping the same gimmick. It will work even in the singles division. Connor sold the gimmick better anyhow. I hope they let him win the title, and see what he can offer overall as a character. Granted it won't be anything close to Undertaker, but at least we get another somewhat cool dark character to possibly become a star one day with Connor O'Brien.
This may sound like a cheap thing to say, but I think Corey Graves is ready for the main roster. He has been impressing me since day one. Corey is far better than I originally thought. They are indeed holding him back with NXT. The man has an idea of how to play his character, and it's good to see. He isn't just collecting a paycheck, and you can tell he is in to what he does. He is from a wrestling city, and I think being from a hot wrestling town always is a plus in my book especially when you are already talented.

El Local is Ricardo under a mask (his old Chimaera gimmick)
HHH has weird ass hair at the front - it's fuzzy. Did he have implants at one time?
Ascension is a team/faction - it doesn't make sense as a solo monicker. Why not just add Rick Victor or Axl Keegan?
The tag titles are obviously going on the Wyatt family. I don't think you'd then put the NXT Title on Conor as it would be three bruising monsters with all the gold.
I was there last night...Pac is really over and the crowd is really amazed at what he does in the ring.
Big E got the huge face reaction he usually does.
The DX/Kliq reunion was awesome. They had the crowd cracking up laughing the whole time

Seems like another solid 3 shows. I find myself looking forward to NXT more than I do Raw Smackdown or any PPVs (not named WM/RR) lol Looking forward to seeing Neville as he seems to get a lot of hype on here. Had hopes that they would add Kruger to the Ascension but they seem to have stuck him with Ohno instead...not sure I get it but heyho, still hope they keep his dark side intro and music w/attire.
Wyatt family going on to win the titles pleases me greatly. They are playing their roles perfectly it is like something out of the Texas Chainsaw or something (minus the face masks and chainsaws though) Just think it needs someone else so it seems more like a family. It needs a "mother" doesn't need to be Mae Young or that, Mother could easily be Huskies new woman/corrupt Diva who plays a role similar to the "sons"
Certainly as said, the characters and stories on NXT are much better developed. It seems like they let the wrestlers talk and it isn't as scripted (if old NXT wasn't scripted as heavily then this one sure as hell won't be) their characters seem to be their own and they move along nicely. As I said, I look forward to it every week.
Hopefully the Wyatt Family wins the titles. I picked them as the inaugural tag champs off the bat when I heard there were going to be tag titles. Not that it matters but if Wyatt is going to be on NXT until probably after WrestleMania, at least have him/his faction be dominant. I don't know if a show that's only one hour needs tag titles though. Inevitably, the belt is going to not be featured at least half the episodes with the amount of talent they have to showcase.
I hope Wyatt is going to be the first one called up after Mania (can't see him debuting before hand because they always debut new guys after Mania) as he's the best thing on NXT easily.
