Just like Ryback, it's seemingly impossible not to get over when you're a muscle bound monster known only for a catchphrase (or in this case, a number) who competes solely in squash matches. Stick anybody with a physique chiselled out of stone who is a decent worker at best in this position and I guarantee you the same guy will get over.

Just like Ryback, I'm going to delay my judgement of the guy until he gets involved in some proper matches and situations of peril (by this I mean when he has to make quick decisions to save a segment or work with a difficult opponent for instance). I wish him all the best however.

Mason Ryan was never even given a chance, though, they dropped him immediately. Ryback wasn't even close to this over when he started the gimmick, it takes months, Ryan never had that, plus he didn't have a catchphrase to get people to chant. I'm sure he could do it because it DOESN'T take talent. Ryback proved that. This guy doesn't seem good either from the limited amount I've seen of him, and repeating King Kong Bundy's 5 gimmick is a bit dumb, never understood why anyone would want to use a 5 count.

He has come a long way since debuting in FCW and has some great intensity. Right now he's playing to his strengths and it's working for him. The larger crowds attending NXT (as oppose to the tiny FCW crowds) are responding.

Put Big E Langston, Mason Ryan and Ryback into one "big men rivality" in NxT outside the main shows for a short time and use this time to create a personality and background for Ryback.

He's athletic, has a decent finisher and seems pretty over. Watch how they put him in a onesie and make him dance around the ring when he hits the main shows.

Did Mason Ryan have a months long push where he squashed dudes every week? I don't remember that happening.

Fans love the impossibly muscled dude who comes out of nowhere and totally destroys everyone he faces. It's about as guaranteed a way to get over as there is.

But that doesn't last very long. It's a great way to rocket a new guy to the top. But the "destroys everyone he faces" gimmick falls apart once he has to wrestle other top guys. Hard to be the unstoppable freak of nature when you are losing, or even winning closely fought matches.

I think Langston shows promise, but hard to read too much into this. He's the first unstoppable freak of nature they've had at the new NXT tapings at Full Sail. So not a surprise the crowd there likes him.

He's got some explosive quickness to his moves that makes his bulk even more impressive. And he seems to have some personality. One downside, I think he's kinda short.
