Yes, it was a pretty good speech, especially from McCain. Still I'm not voting for him, as I just don't agree with him on many issues. I also could care less if he was a POW or not. I mean I respect him for it, but it should not impact this campaign at all. However it will because most Republicans seem to vote based more on Religion and Patriotic-ness more than anything else.

I didn't get the point of the RNC Convention. Was it just to remind everyone that McCain was a POW and bash Obama? If I were an independent I wouldn't have gained any reason to vote for McCain this week. it seemed like they were all just preaching to the converted.

What is the point of either convention, really? Throw a big party and have a bunch of people tell you why to vote for their candidate. If you don't know their positions on the issues by the time they are repeated for the millionth time at the convention, do me a favor, don't vote. You haven't paid enough attention.

True, not that I agreed with him but it was all right speech. Compared to the other RNC speeches but that's not saying much either.

And I don't understand the USA chants. Like the Democrats aren't American if they don't agree them.

McCain is an American hero who should get the usa chants, obama is not a hero at all. Great speaker but nothing more imo.

^That's just a flat out dumb response. Who's saying Obama deserves USA chants anyway? I'm all for honoring McCain's service at every moment possible but those USA chants we're not in his honor at all. Remember, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc etc are all American. What are they trying to say? Republicans are the only true Americans?

Because most voters are idiots. They can't be bothered actually going on the campaign sites and finding out the positions for themselves or reading. It's just too much effort for them to click a mouse or turn a page. So they watch the convention speeches to have someone tell them the positions - those that can make the monstrous sacrifice of missing a sitcom.

Obama capitalised on his opportunity by dispelling pretty much every Republican attack on him and turning them around on McCain. I didn't hear any specifics about anything from McCain. That's not a smart move when the majority of voters are worried about the economy and what each candidate will specifically do for them. And for some reason I don't think he can rely on "No questions" Palin to help him clarify anything for voters.

First, apologies for coming out sounding so defensive. Now, I say it because most, but not all, of these chants came after an RNC speaker said something like this: "Yada yada yada the Democrats this and that!" "USA! USA! USA!"
