Yeah, maybe the first year or two. Then they evolved and surpassed him.

His playing was legendary for his time and I have him the credit he deserves as an innovator. The guys I mentioned came out in the 80's and are mostly instrumental shred. They are not mainstream at all as instrumental music was never meant to be. I will go as far as to say that Hendrix may be the best all around rock guitarist when you take into consideration his songwriting and that he sings and plays simultaneously, but to call him the greatest guitarist when guitar is all that is being looked at is just wrong.

I have to give Elvis the nod here, but just barely. There is no doubt that they are the two most influential acts of all time and no one else is even close.

Seriously, what I mean, is that his point is completely irrelevant, because even though I like Paramore (Pop Punk, Pop Rock, Alternative Rock), I still listen to rock/metal, other genres and not only one. And I don't say that, for example, Skrillex is shit, just because I don't listen to dubstep, electronic, techno, whatever they are. They are shit to me, but I don't say it as a fact. I say it as my opinion. Unlike that poster, who said that Beatles are overrated. He said it as a fact, because he doesn't like them.

Wow I'm impressed only 3 bands I listen to and no country singer that is symbolic to country.

I thought for sure names like these would be thrown out there by ppl.

Bands I like
Kiss
Acdc
Guns and roses
Poison
Def leppard
Motley crue
Van Halen and most of the bands that u associate with them.

Country like johnny cash
Waylon Jennings
George strait
Alan Jackson

I'm impressed to not see them mentioned to much
