If you read my reply to Chismo, you would know that I didn't just say music critics at all.
Appetite is overrated, but Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 are two of the best albums ever recorded.

How about Rick James, bitch? Can 99% of the world name a Rick James song besides Super Freak. I like Super Freak but when you hear that song at first, you're gonna think its MC Hammer.

Then there's Bob Marley. This has more to do with the image. He wouldn't be near as loved and regarded if he didn't smoke pot. I think he's a legend and I like a lot of his songs, but the association with pot and early death definitely overrate him. The latter of which overrates the likes of Nirvana. I think the success of Dave Grohl and Courtney Love elevates Nirvana in my eyes. You can't tell me Cobain didn't have a strong influence on Courtney Love or Dave Grohl. Cobain was only 27, he had plenty to offer.

Musicians dying young plays a pretty big factor in underrating and overrating their work.

Mary Jane bruh.........and because of that Rick can never be overrated

The Rolling Stones. I hate the fact that they lasted so long is a reason to call them great...most of their albums have been pretty shit especially after the 70s.

They had one of the best debut albums in rock history. Almost every single track on Appetite For Destruction was great and showed them as they were - sex, drugs, alcohol abusing, selfdestructing LA youth who just didn't give a shit. Appetite is absolute raw power and a fantastic album. But I do somewhat agree, to me they were a one album band and in that sense you could say overrated.

As for The Beatles, I have this theory that people who say they were just a "she loves you yeah yeah yeah boyband" and shit on their music actually never heard: Rubber Soul, Revolver, White album, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road albums in their entirety. I fail to see how anyone with two functional healthy ears can listen to these and call them shit.

When you only have one good album, your really not that good. Everything else from them was pure shit, and has anyone seen GNR live? They are on my top 5 worst live bands list, they sounded terrible not to mentioned started an hour and a half late.

Top 10 all time favorites:

Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho
Brock Lesnar
Kurt Angle
HHH
Edge
CM Punk
Kane (98-04)

Re: Most over-rated musical acts of all time

Most people who call Beatles shit probably never listened to any of their songs, they just think its cool to hate them.

I don't think the Stones are legends because they just lasted so long, their 60s-early 70s work alone made them legends.

Neither GnR or Appetite is overrated, they would shit on any existing band out there today, from the late 80s to early 90s before they imploded, they were pretty untouchable.

And at people saying Hendrix. He changed guitar and rock music in general forever.

3 albums and they broke up only a few years after Appetite, so that's why there wasn't more. You obviously don't know anything about them.

I'd say, it depends on what you're looking for. My preference is for the raw, street-walking, scumbag feel on Appetite For Destruction. That album makes me wanna break things.

On the thread.

The two acts I always talk shit about as not having the level of talent to receive the amount of success and praise they get are:

Katey Perry: They gave this monster awards for her tripe...AWARDS!

Oasis: I'm not even a huge Beatles guy, was more into the Stones, but how the flying fuck do these guys get put into that stratosphere of success for being a carbon copy of that sound and formula. It's inescapably similar...Plus they're a couple of shit nuggets.

I love professional-wrestling.

@ asdf0501 - Actually, they would. Not that it matters, you always disagree with me no matter what I say.

I've seen your taste in music.
