I'd say Nirvana. I really enjoy a lot of their music, but it's nothing GOATworthy. I remember someone describing their sound as dropping a guitar down the stairs and recording it. Obviously that's an exaggeration, but it's not exactly great.
I'm curious as to how they would be looked at had Cobain not killed himself, because that's such a huge part in them being overrated.
Avenged Sevenfold (I dig some of there stuff but people act like they are gods gift to music)
Anything that involves Zakk Wylde
And....dare I say it....Jimi Hendrix... I love Jimi but on the same token I can name far better guitarists and song writers..
I am so glad to see someone name Jimi Hendrix. I won't even begin to name guitarist that are far more gifted, but I will name my favorite, Jason Becker
I also agree on A7X and will throw BVB in with them. They are not metal and never will be, yet their emo try so hard to claim that they are.
I also agree on those with those that said Nirvana. They were on the decline as far as popularity and then Kurt kills himself and they are all of a sudden legends. Nevermind hurt the music industry more than help it as grunge was all the radio and MTV would play and so many genres were choked out
Stairway to Heaven is not the best guitar solo ever written
