Did anyone see Kanye's interview with that guy in some studio? Sorry I can't be more specific. Two parts of it are on World Star. He's basically ranting and raving about business and world politics and being held back because of what/who he is. Might seem like typical Kanye rage and arrogance, but he actually spoke a lot of truth and made some sense. Suggest you guys check it out.

Rap music was born out of the conditions that existed in largely BLACK neighborhoods. I don't have a problem with other races rapping, producing, listening to rap, etc. I DO have a problem when other races start trying to whitewash over the history of it as BLACK music.....it already happened to rock n roll and jazz. Not happening again. Just acknowledge what it is.
Black people and hip hop music are practically synonymous with one another. Unless they're dressed in a particular way that would lead you to believe otherwise, most people would hazard a guess that any particular black man they might see probably listens to hip hop/rap. Hip hop is always going to be a black thing IMO. But I don't think whites or any other race should be segregated from the genre. Everyone struggles. Everyone goes through shit. Some worse than others but the color of your skin doesn't make what you've went through any more important or meaningful. If you're dope you're dope, that's it. No one should be barred from doing certain things with the genre. Do what you want with your music and let people live.
I haven't watched the video you linked yet, but I will. Can't comment yet. I agree with your "to some people, hip hop is not that deep." Absolutely. To most it's not. To some, it is though. And frankly, gatekeepers need to exist IMO. I've got no problem with legends still being invested in it, and getting pissed off when they see some dumb shit going on.
Rappers wearing skirts is dumb shit, on any level. These little black kids with no fathers are going to think that shit's cool. I got a big problem with black men always being feminized....from black actors that gotta dress as women(oh, haha, the black guy has a fat suit and is in drag! hilarious!) to this recent bullshit of rappers dressing like girls. I got a big problem with all of that.
But why do you care? It's like I try telling people who are against gay marriage or just discriminate against gays in general. How does it concern you? It doesn't.
And it's a fashion trend. Just like jerseys, wrist bands, Fubu, and so forth it will fade. Hell, it's not even popular among regular people. Most dudes around here are sticking with snapbacks, jean jackets, khakis, Jordans, etc. It's gonna shift the culture.
