Hanoi has pretty much hit all the right points, but I'll add my two pence worth for the hell of it. To start with you canNOT go wrong with 'Take As Needed For Pain' by Eyehategod.

Also, for one of the most obscenely heavy albums ever created, listen to 'Odd Fellow's Rest' by the mighty CROWBAR. Some damn fine tunes on that album.

Torche are one of my favourite bands of all time, ignore them at your peril - 'Meanderthal' and 'Harmonicraft' are BRILLIANT.
Acid Bath veer in different directions most of the time but they always retain that swampy sludgy swagger, check out 'When The Kite String Pops'
Speaking of swampy, you can't have a sludge topic without mentioning Buzz'oven - there are slow songs and fast songs, but all filthy as fuck
However, us English cunts can sludge with the best of them - listen to Iron Monkey for some disgusting Sabbath-meets-Black Flag dirt
Melvins have been going for nigh on thirty years, but I sincerely believe some of their best work has come from the recent albums with the members of Big Business (who you also need to check out sharpish)
The 'Supercollider' album by Cavity has been on constant rotation recently - an underrated sludge classic
Also check out Kongh, Buried At Sea, Noothgrush, The Abominable Iron Sloth, Soilent Green (bit grindy but still great), Unearthly Trance, early Kylesa, Dream Death, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....

Also, one last nod to a band who had a bit of a controversial ending - Thee Plague Of Gentlemen, one of the heaviest live bands I've ever seen, but the frontman had to spoil it by being a kiddie fiddler. Shame really. Rest of the members went on to form Serpentcult, who were also pretty meaty themselves, not to mention the singer was fit as fuck.

Upon a whim I got this song playing and I almost - key word being ALMOST - forgot how much magic this song produces. Knew there was a large reason why I love Hayley the way I do besides her looks. Decode: still the best Paramore song around. Probably forever, tbhayley.

lol @ it being for such a horrible movie's soundtrack. Sweet, sweet irony.

Chimed into to say anybody who likes Korn should definitely check out the Paradigm Shift - huge fan of those guys & this to me is without a doubt the best album they've dropped in a decade, not including the Greatest Hits CD of course. The whole thing is solid & my two personal favorites are Love & Meth and Lullaby For A Sadist - way better then that dubstep/electronic crap they tried to pass off on us a few years ago ... although Narcissistic Cannibal is dope as hell IMO

Gorgeous album. One of the best of the 10's in my opinion. Wash is like the most beautiful song ever.

There's a name I don't hear much anymore. Being esoteric here, but that's kind of the point.

On a similar note, something a little heavier, check out the album 'Children of Fire' by Oh, Sleeper.
