Hmmm. 2002 till present, eh. Sounds like a challenge.

Ghost - Opus Eponymous
High On Fire - Blessed Black Wings
Protest The Hero - Kezia
Gojira - From Mars To Sirius
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Skeletonwitch - Beyond The Permafrost
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman I'm A Machine
Alexisonfire
The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath
Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual
Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands II
Melvins - A Senile Animal

A dozen albums I'd swear by.

I love professional-wrestling.

Re: Rock/Metal Discussion Thread

One genre of metal I've never really gotten into is Sludge. Only band I've really loved is Corrupted but at the same time its a genre I haven't really tried out properly. Can anyone recommend me some bands and albums to try from this genre? Looking particularly at you Dopesick

I know that, I meant I wouldn't even know where to begin to say who or what sludge music exactly is.

Some genre names are ridiculously wacky.

Re: Rock/Metal Discussion Thread

sludge is one of the more appropriate and descriptive genre names, although it really just means sloppy doom, im not the hugest fan and dopesick will be all over this but theres a few I love

early Melvins are the daddies
Eyehategod are the overlords

also throw in Saint Vitus
Acid Bath
Asunder (you might like the album Works Will Come Undone, really epic and grim, sort of like Corrupted meets Esoteric)
Noothgrush
Graves At Sea
Harvey Milk (seriously check out this band, fucked up, arty sludge, strongly rec the album My Love is Higher Than Your Assesment of what My Love Could Be)
Torche (rocking sunny day sludge)
Cavity
Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer (pre Sunn O))) heavy as balls band)

not really sludge but certainly sludgey Ride For Revenge - Wisdom of the Few is one of my fave black metal albums of recent years, really cool sub-bass sound to them.

also gotta add a rec for some mates of mine
The Slomatics (from belfast, best dudes)
Conan
Gruel
Like a Kind of Matador

could probably name a few more but that'll do for now
