I knew you had to. We'll keep this the BTBAM and other Rock/Metal discussion thread for as long as we can. Or as long as you or anyone else want to start talking about Enter Shikari or Tobias Sammet inspired bands.

Cheap plug to the bands with male vocalists that are ultra high in my book.

Not really into enter shikari tbh but I dig this being the BTBAM (and other rock/metal bands) thread . Speaking of BTBAM, it's been too long since I jammed Colors. I better fix that at some point once I get out of my ambient/drone fix.

Another lad from England I hear say that. Starting to notice an ironic pattern. Kidding, but everyone I talk to someone who doesn't care for them, they're always from the the homeland. Meanwhile I'm over here across the pond waiting for the next chance I DON'T miss 'em. Someday. I'll compromise usual dislike for attending shows to see them. No doubt.

I was the same way, but with Alaska. Outside of The Primer, of course. Felt like there was a large disconnect from the last time I gave the whole album a go. Not sure why, but that was rectified. Colors is always top notch. Ants of the Sky, man. ANTS OF THE SKY! One of my favorites without a doubt. I should try and see if I could compose a top ten of their tracks. I basically have it lined up, but so many tracks feel like they could be "the" favorite, haha.

Colors was the first btbam album I ever listen to and I always consider it the most important album for me personally I've ever listened to because it completely changed my perspective on music. I wouldn't have the music taste I have today without it. However at one point I completely over played it and now it's one of my least fave btbam albums believe it or not (but still amazing).

Top 10 BTBAM songs.....hmmm....always difficult. I'll give it a go though. I know what my top 4 is easily though.

1) Lay Your Ghosts to Rest
2) Backwards Marathon
3) Disease, Injury, Madness
4) Specular Reflection
5) Mordecai
6) Ants of the Sky
7) Silent Flight Parliament
8) Ad A Dglgmut
9) White Walls
10) Obfuscation

Top 9 I had in lock and then there were so many I could have picked for the 10th spot but I went with Obfuscation because the replay value of that song is ridiculous.

That is a bit of a shocker considering it seems to be a lot of fan's personal favorites. Rarely have I heard it be at the bottom of the pack. Doesn't reflect towards any negative association, of course. It's a ranking system that's without a flaw, tbhayley. It could be at the bottom yet well above many, many other albums from various artists. I get that.

Mordecai love

Damn near their pinnacle of what they're about. Ultimate progression. First song I ever heard from them too. With their low-budget video in tact. Song blew me away at first. Was a time where I wasn't really open with my musical preferences, so hearing something like that was like "woah". Couldn't believe it was all Thomas doing the vocals b/c he went from the biggest brutality to the softest beauty all in the span of about six minutes. Thanks to Victory Records for those sample DVDs or else I may have not found BTBAM till later in life. Or even not at all.

Also glad to see Backwards Marathon plugged that high. Goodness is that piece strong. I lost my voice when I sang Lay Your Ghosts to Rest on Sunday, btw.

Backwards Marathon has always been a favourite of mine. Song is just unbelievable. Mordecai.....yeah, that song is on most people's favourite list and there was no way I was leaving it off mine. Loved it the moment I heard it and it has one of the best clean sections in metal that I've ever heard. Solo section is too beautiful for words. Loved it even before I really got into the Silent Circus which as you know is a personal favourite for me when it comes to be BTBAM albums .

I am dying to see Lay Your Ghosts to Rest live. That song is absolutely incredible and if BTBAM ever write a song better than it than my head will explode. Literally one of my favourite songs ever, perhaps my favourite progressive metal song I've ever heard. Simply jaw dropping.

Backwards Marathon was one of those top notch songs that I didn't quite realize was THAT good until after a few listens. Primer, Selkies, Laser Speed, Alaska, all stuck out first and then one listen it was like "wait, this song is terrific." Sometimes those sleepers finally connect out of the blue.

Mordecai is def the tops off of The Silent Circus for me. (<3 the clean portion at the ending too. It's wonderful.) Which is an album I fear I underrate way too much in comparison to the rest of their work. It's all settled now, but I always jump towards everything after it a bit more. Sort of leaving it in the dust with the exception of Mordecai. Meanwhile The Need For Repetition remains and I always snubbed it before. A part of me that I'm fully ashamed with. Destructo Spin is fuxin gnarly too.

It's one of my favorites now too, although I could comment on how a few other songs they've written appeal to me a slight hair more than Lay Your Ghosts to Rest. But again, it's these small margin comparisons that you'd need a magnifying glass to see how close they're truly separated. It's the clean chorus where the song hits hits pinnacle for me. Ooof. Goosebumps. Especially live. Hopefully the next time they're touring overseas they play it or the entire Future Sequence set. It's well worth it as you can imagine. Unbelievable how they played non-stop too during the set. Only breaks were with the few intermissions in Autumn & Parallax. Rest was one large string until the quick stop at Goodbye To Everything Reprise, talk with the crowd for a few moments and beginning White Walls. Parallax - Silent Flight Parliament is one seamless flow of aggression, euphoric space journey, & musical fusion.

What is the best rock/metal album of 2002-present? The one most worth buying.
