Loved it even before I really got into the Silent Circus which as you know is a personal favourite for me when it comes to be BTBAM albums
I am dying to see Lay Your Ghosts to Rest live. That song is absolutely incredible and if BTBAM ever write a song better than it than my head will explode. Literally one of my favourite songs ever, perhaps my favourite progressive metal song I've ever heard. Simply jaw dropping.
Backwards Marathon was one of those top notch songs that I didn't quite realize was THAT good until after a few listens. Primer, Selkies, Laser Speed, Alaska, all stuck out first and then one listen it was like "wait, this song is terrific."
Sometimes those sleepers finally connect out of the blue.
Mordecai is def the tops off of The Silent Circus for me. (<3 the clean portion at the ending too. It's wonderful.)
Which is an album I fear I underrate way too much in comparison to the rest of their work. It's all settled now, but I always jump towards everything after it a bit more. Sort of leaving it in the dust with the exception of Mordecai. Meanwhile The Need For Repetition remains and I always snubbed it before. A part of me that I'm fully ashamed with. Destructo Spin is fuxin gnarly too.
It's one of my favorites now too, although I could comment on how a few other songs they've written appeal to me a slight hair more than Lay Your Ghosts to Rest. But again, it's these small margin comparisons that you'd need a magnifying glass to see how close they're truly separated. It's the clean chorus where the song hits hits pinnacle for me. Ooof. Goosebumps. Especially live. Hopefully the next time they're touring overseas they play it or the entire Future Sequence set. It's well worth it as you can imagine. Unbelievable how they played non-stop too during the set. Only breaks were with the few intermissions in Autumn & Parallax. Rest was one large string until the quick stop at Goodbye To Everything Reprise, talk with the crowd for a few moments and beginning White Walls. Parallax - Silent Flight Parliament is one seamless flow of aggression, euphoric space journey, & musical fusion.
