Most under-rated musical acts of all time

Who do you think are the the most under-rated musical acts of all time.I won't name any of the current indie groups, since that would be too many, but some older ones that I think are under-rated are:

Pink Floyd(under-rated in the sense that they aren't considered GOAT)
Air Supply
The Smiths
Ace of Base

The Velvet Underground. Disgustingly underrated during their time and still underrated now, considering they aren't mentioned regularly with The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones.

James Brown. As far as I'm concerned the greatest musical act of all-time and the GREATEST PERFORMER OF ALL-TIME. A man outside of his era and well ahead of his time. No disrespect to Michael Jackson, no disrespect to Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra, no disrespect to Elvis, no disrespect to Beyonce or Tina Turner, but they are barely in his LEAGUE, let alone his competition.

.

Hardly really underrated, because The Velvet is probably one of the most influential bands in popular music along with The Beatles, Sabbath and maybe Kraftwerk. You can track the Velvet influences in all the post-punk, alternative and indie music and even in other genres like the drone

One band I think is criminally underrated in recent times is Pepe Deluxé. It shocks me that this band doesn't get more praise, to me they're amungst the most talented musicians ever.

You're the first person I've seen (besides myself obviously) mention them in the same breath as The Beatles who wasn't a musician... and you might be a musician for all I know.

Concrete Blonde. Pre-alternative hard-rock with goth and glam overtones, late 80s through the 90s. Waaay ahead of their time. Bassist/singer/songwriter Johnette Napolitano is an amazing talent that never really broke through aside from a couple top ten singles. Underrated in that nobody ever talks about them, but they were truly excellent.

I love professional-wrestling.

The Cardiacs

One of the most original, groundbreaking, loud, chaotic, influential and TUNEFUL bands to ever exist. Just listen to that album and you'll need a crowbar to remove the smile from your face.

Others...
Acid Bath - sludge/rock/industrial/alt-rock
Screaming Trees - grunge/classic rock
Masters Of Reality - stoner/heavy rock
Hum - alt rock/noise
Failure - heavy rock
Cavity - sludge/hardcore/industrial
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - rock/jazz/goth/metal/pop/everything

"Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango!"
