I love death but considering that most guitar players and vocalists from extreme metal acts worship Chuck, I wouldn't really consider death under rated. Then again, I did recently go on a rant over death not being properly appreciated commercially.

That is kind of what I was getting at when looked at in comparison to another band from around the same time that get so much of the credit Chuck deserves. Was your rant on here?

No, I wish, because it was a rather passionate one because of how much I love death. I need to start posting some of my rants but I'm still trying to feel this forum out.

I have wars on YouTube over music. I have literally had people say that Death completely sucks and say Five Finger Death Punch ans Avenged Sevenfold are the best things to ever happen to metal.

Half of the mentions here are bafflin'

King Crimson? seriously? regarded as probably the greatest prog rock band ever. Death? How in the hell is Death underrated?

I would have to disagree and say that title goes to Rush and nowadays Dream Theater is up there with them as far as the masses are concerned. Tool helped bring some notoriety King Crimsons way, but compared to Rush and DT, it's not even close.

Chevelle - Cranks out great cd after great cd and barely gets any credit. Sure they have a few hits (The Red, Face To The Floor and Well Enough Alone for examples) but are largely ignored from what I can tell.

Thursday - Just an amazing group I rarely see mentioned when they should be considered very highly.

Porcupine Tree - The Incident album alone makes them a GOAT candidate for me. Not to mention Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun.

Noted or popular doesn't equal underrated or overrated at all.

Plus, there are genres that hasn't mainstream appeal at all, Prog-rock is one of them. I love Magma and will say is one of the greatest rock acts of all times and they are hardly knew, but that doesn't mean they are underrated specially for their influence on the Krautrock and the impact they had among prog fans in general.

By the criteria of "how well known" is a band or "how many fanboys it has", i can say idiotic things like "all the drone genre is underrated", which is a lie
