100% agree about Lisa Gerrard. I became familiar with her from her vocals in the movie Man on Fire. Since then she has became my favorite female vocalist alongside Lisa Kelly and Sarah Brightman. Phenomenal talent.

I read about this a few years ago. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was right after the Farro brothers left. I don't believe it. From what I've heard in interviews with Hayley, Jeremy, Taylor and the Farros, they all met in the Tennessee area (see the song Franklin to be exact) in 2002-ish. Hayley was actually discovered as a teenager before the rest of the band and was signed as a "pop solo artist". She objected, wanting to play rock music in a band instead of being a cliche pop star. Even though the Farros, Josh in particular, have been brutally honest about Hayley always being the center of attention and the fact that she was the only member technically signed to Atlantic at the time, I still don't think Paramore is a "corporate band". Why else would she tattoo logos of the band on her arm, or why else would Jeremy or Taylor not say something negative about not being on said contract? They're obviously making a living and look pretty fuckin happy if you ask me.

Check out this interview. It goes into more detail...

Either way, back on topic.

Apart from my favorites already mentioned which include Paramore, Halestorm, Jefferson Airplane and Lacuna Coil, here are some I didn't see.

Flyleaf

Delain

Dead Sara

Icon For Hire

The Cranberries

And I can't not post this...

That intro will forever give my chills.

Re: Your favorite female rock/metal bands

I saw lots of bands being mentionned in this thread that aren't rock or metal at all. I mean, I fucking love CHVRCHES, Lindsey Stirling, Ellie Goulding and Metric, but they are mostly pop music. I will omit lots of names here (because I listen to alot of indie-pop with female vocals) and will only list my favorite female rock, emo or metal bands.

(Click on the band name to listen a song)

I personally love:
- Paramore (especially since that new album came out. It's FUCKING amazing)
- Flyleaf (the original lineup)
- Jakalope (original lineup, before Katy B left)
- Die Mannequin (I met Care Failure once, she was so fucking sweet)
- Halestorm
- The Damn Truth (awesome new garage-rock band from Montréal! You GOTTA hear their stuff! Reminds me of Black Keys.... but louder!)
- Icon for Hire
- Blood Command
- In This Moment
- Be Your Own Pet (RIP)
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs (gotta love Karen O)
- Garbage Dat Shirley Manson!

Now, for older bands, I love:
- Jefferson Airplane (White Rabbit's gotta be one of my favorite songs ever)
- Blondie (I know it's not rock or metal, but what the hell, I love them)
- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Of course)
- Heart
- Fleetwood Mac
- Pat Benatar

... I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting alot of names, but you get the idea.

I am a huge fan of female voices in music. Most of my music library have a female lead in vocals! Anyways, great thread!

DAMN RIGHT

PUNK / BRYAN / AMBROSE / ZIGGLER / CESARO / ZAYN

PAIGE / AJ / BAYLEY / BLISS / BANKS / IVELISSE

Tristania, Nightwish, The Agonist, Amaranthe, Sirenia... I would include Epica, but Simone is not really frontrunner, per se.

Simone IS Epica. I don't quite get what you mean. You list Amaranthe and Elize shares a bit more vocal time than Simone does on most tracks.

Nouvelle Vague.

I'm in love with that new album. So fucking incredible. Especially the closing track "Future". Never expected a post-rock track from them. I'm buying this on vinyl pretty soon.

Halestorm. Aw day erry day.

Sort of off-topic, but I actually just discovered this track from their Strange Case Of... album a few weeks ago.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PC8oYqTAOtY‎

Brent Smith and David Draiman. On the same song. Singing in a gospel choir with Halestorm.

I could not be wetter.

Fuck yeah. They're always gonna be in my top three, along with System of a Down and Metallica. Yeah, kinda eclectic, but that's just my awesome taste in music

I'm also pumped to see em on the Self Titled Tour next month on the first date in Seattle. Gonna bring a sign that says something along the lines of "ME + DRUMS = RENEGADE". That song is fun as hell to play on drums and if I got to come on stage? Jesus.

It took me a couple listens, but I fell in love with it too. Being that brand new eyes is my favorite of the four, it's kind of a leap from the previous material. However, like I said, I did eventually fall in love with it.

Oh, and I totally got the vinyl via the pre-order. Came with the extra tracks on a picture disc and a fun little tour book with a bunch of instagram pictures.
