Dream Supergroup

I have this conversation with my buddies a lot; if you piece together a dream supergroup, using any musicians (currently living, or otherwise), who would you choose?

I quite like the idea of a Tom Waits (Singing, multi-instrumentalist); Nick Cave (Singing, multi-instrumentalist); Shane MacGowan (Singing, propping up the bar); Keith Richards (yeah, I like the fella, Guitars) and Mark Lanegan (Singing, Guitars). They'd be a Travelling Wilburies style supergroup, where they all have a crack of the whip.

I managed to come up with the most potentially boring supergroup ever today. Imagine this; on drums, Phil Collins. On bass, Sting. On guitar, ol' Slow-Hand Eric Clapton; up front, giving it large and tickling the ivory, Paul McCartney. Guest appearances from Paul Weller, Mark Knopfler and Geoff Lynne would cap that off as the most boring group ever.

So; I'm challenging you. Give me the best and worst supergroups you could imagine.

Re: Dream Supergroup

Idea for an Experimental Prog/Alt Rock group.

Vocalist/Guitarist: Laura Stevenson
Lead Guitarist: Paul Waggoner
Bassist: Dan Briggs
Keyboardist: Ashley Ellyllon
Drummer: Chris Pennie

Alt influence comes from Laura Stevenson obviously who is an amazing vocalist and is pretty creative in her songwriting. Other main songwriter would be Briggs because the guy is just a walking creative mindfield (his work with BTBAM, Orbs and Trioscapes proves this). His fellow BTBAM band mate Paul Waggoner is also extremely creative and can adapt to any playing style or genre when need be. Far more than the John Petrucci rip off some claim to be. Brigg's bass work obviously speaks for itself if you are familiar with him.

Then you have Pennie who is an amazing drummer who really brought about the basis of Dillinger Escape Plan and what they've become and then you have what I would call the darkhorse pick in Ellyllon who despite being associated with some awful bands is an extremely talented keyboardist as shown by some of her solo piano work and her work with Orbs.

Putting these creative minds together could bring about some incredible music in my opinion and I think despite some of the oddness in terms of their music backgrounds not being completely aligned would be an amazing supergroup.

Re: Dream Supergroup

James Brown & the J.B.s (1971 lineup with Maceo, Fred, Catfish & Bootsy), Prince (80s), and Beyonce all in one supergroup. The stage would explode with so much soul, funk, rock, dancing, and powerful vocals!

Much gratitude to
