Harry Potter with Star Wars at a close second. I had a music history class in high school and one of the topics was John Williams. And I do agree with you that he is the GOAT. For the guy above me, how did you not add Hans Zimmer? He is another great movie composer with movie scores like The Lion King, Pirates of the Carribean, The Dark Knight, and Inception.

asdf just named a handful of great composers.

Special mention should also go to Roy Budd, Lalo Schifrin, Rahul Dev Burman, Adolph Deutsch and a sentimental favorite; Vangelis.

If you talk prestige, guys like John Barry, William Alwyn, Jerry Fielding, Stelvio Cipriani, Paul Dunlap, and George Duning are definitely up there. I'd put John Williams on the same level as Danny Elfman, they're both very good composers, but not GOAT imo. John definitely worked on the highest grossing movies though.

Forgot about Danny Elfman. I agree that they are both on the same level. He has great music but I think John Williams is better than Elfman.

I feel Star Wars just edges Superman but mainly due to the fact the whole score for Star Wars was a masterpiece The Imperial March for example is better then the opening score that is linked.

Superman theme only really shines in the opening credits of the movie with the whole build up to the Superman logo appearing.

Honourable mention to Indiana Jones you just knew shit was gonna get good when that music kicked in during action scenes.

I was close to voting Jaws and then I heard The Imperial March, so now I am undecided again.

I'm not saying that the Star Wars theme isn't good, but I think the reason it's so widely considered to be his best theme is because of how iconic it is, and not because of the theme itself. He has a handful of songs that trump it, IMO.
