Opinions on Spotify?
Starting to use the free version and I love it. Can't believe how many albums I'm finding that I could never track down before.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
Love it. I pay a fiver a month to listen to as many tracks as I want. I never download any music now because of this. I haven't bought a CD for a few years now though, which is unfortunate for upcoming artists and all that, but with a service like this, I don't really need to.
I use it every day without fail. I used the free version while attempting to ignore the nauseating advertisements (fuck off Professor Green) but when I found out that you could only listen to one track up to five times then I decided to fork out for a subscription. Doesn't bother me, five quid a month is nowt.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
Been using it since 2010 and it's absolutely awesome. I hate the staff as they constantly fuck up something. The new update sucks and they did it so that you can't even use the last good update (8.5) without it crashing. Have been forced to downgrade to 6.2 but I'll live with it. The background for the old version is awesome and using local files is the icing on the cake for stuff that are not available.

Used it for 3-4 years now and I love it. Found so much new music to listen to through it.

I love it. Great way to find and stream and preview new albums in an efficient manner.
My only gripe is that I wish certain bands like Zeppelin, Beatles, AC/DC, McCartney would allow spotify to stream their catalog, but I am sure they have their valid reasonings for not doing it.

Spotify pays artists very little. I can't remember the exact numbers but my friend, who runs his own website and interviews fairly well known bands, found out that one of the bands he interviewed only make a small amount of money from around each 3000 or so plays of their material. Spotify and other music streaming sources obviously affect the general sales of albums and this would lose bigger bands a lot of potential income from sales. Lesser known bands probably don't care as much about this as most of their money comes from touring/merch sales.
As far as AC/DC go, I know they are against the likes of Spotify and iTunes as they, in their own words, "release albums, not singles" and obviously both give you the option to buy single tracks as opposed to full albums.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
I've had it for some time now, upgraded to Premium almost immediately and it's easily the best music app I've ever had. It's one piddling payment a month and I can download and listen to my music any time without worrying about streaming. The selection is pretty damn wide and there's regular additions with stunning variety. I use it without thinking now.
My only issue has already been mentioned, I hate missing out on some of the classic bands and the cover bands they have are usually dreadful but that still puts them head and shoulders above the competition.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
I originally I got it about a year ago, used it for half an hour, didn't see the fuss and stopped using it. Eventually I gave it another go and since haven't looked back. My iphone is piece of shit and won't sync to my computer anymore so I have no real use for itunes. On top of that, finding some albums for download has been difficult and Spotify usually comes with the goods on a stream which is good enough for me, also a good way to try an album before taking up space with a download/spending money on it. Occasionally there'll be an album or two from a big band that should be there but isn't but apart from that I can't complain too much.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
Good for the user, terrible for the musicians.
I don't use it now, mainly because I'm fortunately in a position where I'm able to be exposed to a ton of new music due to the site.

Re: Opinions on Spotify?
Had it for three years now, and got it Premium in Christmas last year so I could listen on my Kindle. Awesome program, very organised, and I've had little to no blunders with it throughout my usage. The ultimate music tool, if you ask me. Using it right now, infact.
