Soundgarden

Figured I create a thread for the great Soundgarden. One of my all time favourites. Been a fan since 1986. Long before stardom came there way. There new studio release King Animal makes it seem like they never took a break.

Re: Soundgarden

Here's one of my favourite songs by Soundgarden. This is Smokestack Lightning from Ultra Mega OK. Nice cover of the old Howlin' Wolf classic

Re: Soundgarden

My favourite song by them is probably 'Fell on Black Days'.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST POSE.

Though I'd probably go with Drawing Flies as my favourite song off Badmotorfinger. Just really gets me going.

My band back in the day used to play Jesus Christ Pose live on occasion. We used to play it in a Black Sabbath style. The song always reminded me of Black Sabbath

Re: Soundgarden

I think 'Rusty Cage' is their only song I like. Hell, I don't even know their other songs, 'Black Hole Sun' seems to be getting a lot of praise from fans and I heard many even consider it the best grunge song ever, but I find it mediocre. On the other hand, I like Chris Cornell's rather short lived band Audioslave a lot.

Re: Soundgarden

Fucking class band. Probably one of the finest assemblage of musicians in a rock band at one time. Chris Cornell possesses a truly sensational vocal range. Here is an example of his greatness, the point at 1:33 is simply breathtaking...

I first got into them in 1994 when seeing the creepy but compelling video to 'Black Hole Sun'. Still the finest music video I've ever seen, it gave me the shits as a naive eleven year old kid. Killer track as well.

However, as for top tracks, my favourite would have to be the aforementioned 'Slaves And Bulldozers', with '4th Of July', 'Rusty Cage', 'Jesus Christ Pose' and the underrated 'Searching With My Good Eye Closed'. 'Badmotorfinger' being my favourite album.

Damn, all this gushing praise and they're not even my favourite band. Hell, they're not even my favourite Seattle grunge band.

"Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango!"

Re: Soundgarden

I got tickets last week to see them (this will be my first SG show) in Kansas City in May. Can't fucking wait. The place I'm seeing them is pretty small and I have floor seats so Ill try and get close. I've been a fan since 91ish.

I was a big fan of Audioslave. They just imploded. Like to see them return someday
