What would you listen to

if you grew up in the mid to late 80's and skateboarded all day and lived in So Cal. I know it's a strange question. Various artists I've come up with are:

Bad Brains
Misfits
Metallica
Slayer
Dead Kennedys
Agent Orange
Iron Maiden
Adolescents

I'm just looking to create a really in-depth character who does in fact live the skateboarding lifestyle and worships the Bones Brigade.

Re: What would you listen to

Aside from the obvious mentions:

JFA (THE quintessential skate punk band, if you were in California in the '80s and had a board, you were almost certainly listening to this band)
Agent Orange
Free Beer (but finding their stuff is hard online because there's approximately 1 million Free Beers around)
Dr Know*
Ill Repute*
Agression*
Gang Green
TSOL
Stalag 13*
Drunk Injuns
The Faction (Steve Caballero was in the band)
RKL*

Then yeah, all the obvious early hardcore bands like the ones already said and Middle Class, Ramones, etc. Around the mid-80s DRI would have had enough of an influence that thrash snuck in to the music (see how many hardcore bands went metal). If you want suggestions on specific albums etc give me a shout.

*these bands were all for Oxnard around '82-'84, which was one of SoCal's most notorious skate & hardcore regions, so if I was doing some sort of character based on those things, these are bands I'd have to include.

How the hell did I forget about JFA and the Faction. Thank you for that post, NGN!

Re: What would you listen to

No problem! It got me to dig out Valley Of The Yakes, such an underrated punk record.

If I had to name the perfect hardcore song, this wouldn't be far from my mind. Even the feedback is amazing.
