I've always loved sad songs, dunno why but they speak to me. I'm a proper sap when it comes to them. One that always gets me and I hate hearing when other people are around is Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. If I listen to and think about the lyrics then it wells me up and I ain't afraid to say it.
Anybody else have a thing for sad songs? Hit me with them. Hit me really fucking hard.
As far as first airing in a market goes, in the battle for No. 2 on television, ROH, even though available in far fewer homes (it’s first airing in its markets combined at between 350,000 and 400,000 viewers weekly), and mostly out of prime time on Saturdays, but on better stations, is now No. 2. Lucha Underground on Unimas is behind Impact. As noted before, New Japan numbers head-to-head with Impact are unknown. The station that does have ways to measure viewership internally and were surprised at how well the shows have done.
I define a sad song as one that stops me in my tracks every time I hear it. I remember being a little kid and hearing this performed at Princess Diana's funeral on television. The lyrics are quite possibly the most elegant I've ever heard.
Death's "Symbolic". My Dying Bride's "The Dreadful Hours". Type O Negative's "Red Water". Sadistik's "Memento Mori". Soap&Skin's "Turbine Womb". Salem's "Moment of Silence" and "Eyes to Match a Soul". And many more.
