Damn, I'm mad I missed the album nominations thread. One of these days Y'ALL GONNA STOP FRONTIN' ON GOTDMAN LL COOL J!!! Mama Said Knock You Out is better than at least 20 of these albums....in some cases, WAY better.

NO EPMD or Redman, but the typical overrepresentation of 2Pac and Wu-Tang.....c'mon. Pac got 3 albums in this? LOL, I'm not even sure he deserves one!

NO Low End Theory OR Midnight Marauders??? Some of y'all are wack as shit. LOL

Oh, and LB Guaran-damn-tees that at least half the people voting have NEVER heard some of these albums, like Mecca and the Soul Brother, It Takes a Nation, Long Live the Kane, etc. If you haven't heard them, then don't vote! Or go find the albums and listen to them first.

Re: WF GOAT Rap Album Tournament - Round 1

LB, while I agree with you on nearly all of that (I nominated the vast majority you namechecked), you also voted for Blackout over Liquid Swords. I need someone to explain why this keeps happening, I love both records but damn, GZA is like a level above here. Both Meth and Red have released better, its just a very great party album, whereas Swords is a classic.

There's some questionable choices which I can accept (again, THREE Pac albums? one of which has an entire disc below average?), but I cannot get my head around this.

To me, that one is really a preference because the two albums are so different. IMO, they are both outstanding albums in their own realm. I guess it's just preference on which one appeals to you more. I've got so many memories to that Blackout album, while I appreciate and like Liquis Swords, Blackout defines a period of my life. Both are elite albums and belong here to me, though I agree that Redman has released better solo albums(Meth hasn't though).

And as hard as I ride for Cube, The Predator doesn't belong in this poll either while I'm thinking of it.

This list is dominated WAY too heavily by too few artists....Pac, Wu-Tang, NWA.....they make up like a third of the list or more. LOL, ridiculous. Some of these cats need to listen to a wider scope of rappers.

The only real tough decision for me personally was voting against Mecca & The Soul Brother which is one of my favorite albums of all time. 36 Chambers is just a better album overall.
