Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

Besides pro wrestling, hardcore is my life. Bands like Sick of it All, Madball, Earth Crisis, and Minor Threat got me into it. My favorite band has to be Terror though.

Yeah, I've always been more into punk than anything else anyway, and when I got my first copies of Damaged and Milo Goes To College that was it. First time I heard the Dirty Rotten LP my mind was just blown. There are very few hardcore subgenres I don't dig.

UKHC scene at the moment is really good. There's a lot of bands more influenced by screamo or melodic HC, and some damn great fastcore stuff. Been to what feels like a huge amount on great gigs the last two years.

Yeah before I got into hardcore, I was into just classic punk. Bad religion got me started with Recipe for hate, and that slowly snowballed into the harder stuff. Along with Pennywise and the Decedents like you mentioned, those were my youngin bands. The best part about hardcore though is the sense of community you get from it, like most those gigs you went to everyone acted cool and like they were sort of a family right?

And UKHC is raping forsure right now. Not a big fan of screamo though.

Yeah man, I mean I've been going to hardcore and punk gigs for well over 10 years, played in various bands locally, had bands sleep on my floor so its a total sense of community, like going to the pub with 50 friends. I'm lucky enough to be from an area that's got bands like Vales, Crocus, Gnarwolves, Bangers, etc, local dudes and in bands like Bastions, We Came Out Like Tigers, Goodtime Boys, I know the guys who run labels, promote gigs, do artwork, print shirts, work at the venues.. there's no genre of music I've experienced that has a complete family feel from top to bottom, as opposed to just people that like the same music.

Scene is completely thriving at the moment, labels like Church Of Fuck and TDON up north, Fist In The Air, Holy Roar and Tangled Talk in the south east, Moshtache Records and Dog Knights down south. All of them and the many smaller labels are working so hard now, its as good as it was ten years ago.

Getting all emotional up in here

Id be similar backround to this, played and put on gigs and had bands on my couch for years (inc Converge and Frank Turner when nobody knew them), will check out a few of those bands listed.
I do find though that the older im getting the less hardcore I listen to which seems to becoming a common thing around here (dublin), we had a great scene for a few years (roughly 02-08) when various elements of the HC, Crust and Metal scenes merged together for a magic few years of mixed bills and lots of fun, the few years since most of the venues have closed, promoters grew tired of the constant hassles and majority of the bands moved onto full on rock or metal or noise, those fun little community gigs are few and far between nowadays:sad:

Still do listen to tons of old-school Black Flag, Misfits, Void and early Husker Du though.

If you're into the crust/metal type of hardcore, you'll probably be into any Church Of Fuck releases. Bands like Swinelord, Razoreater, Cholera, they put out a really cool post metal band called Trudger. All short run tape EPs but I think they're all free download now.

Black Flag up until My War were the best band. Even In My Head, Loose Nut and Slip It In had a load of great songs.

Lovin the responses this got so far. I never really looked much into crust punk besides like Hellbastard and older guys like that. Gonna look those bands you said up when I get home, Church of Fuck can't go wrong there.

Re: Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

I'm a huge Hardcore fan. I love bands like Defeater, Touche Amore, Have Heart, Terror, H2O, SOS, STYG, Casey Jones etc. Some older stuff like Minor Threat, Earth Crisis, Fugazi, GG Allin (If you'd include him in the hardcore genre. I personally consider him a pioneer in the genre in a way)etc. I'm also a fan of La Dispute and a few other bands like that, but some people don't consider them hardcore. Really not a fan of the new bands that have the dubstep breakdowns and auto-tune vocals and stuff, or the guys who do nothing but scream to the extent that they are completely incoherent. It just...isn't hardcore to me. I've always looked at hardcore music as a way to release feelings and emotions and to get a point across. A lot of the newer type bands just don't really do it for me.
