Converge comes to mind right away. Ringworm, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Suicidal Tendencies, Every Time I die, and The Dillinger escape plan are some you could look at. Basically look for bands labeled as "metalcore" which is actually really popular. You could also look at crossover thrash, start with bands like Municipal Waste, All Pigs Must Die, Cro-Mags, and Short Sharp Shock.

Re: Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

For straight up metal influenced hardcore rather than 'metalcore', check out the later DRI albums, like Crossover or Thrash Zone. I'd also recommend Loose Nut or Slip It In by Black Flag, more r'n'r/metal influence on those records.

YES. If you like hardcore and you haven't listened to Witness, you're missing out big time.

Amazing old school hardcore, like Minor Threat, Circle Jerks, early Flag. Just fast, short, thrashy and angry. This record is the exact same as their set when I saw them back in February. Came over from Massachusetts for a Euro tour with the homies in Witch Cult, it was 56 or so dates I believe - came down, played 16 songs in 6 minutes and left, no encore. So intense, but the brevity of the songs don't sacrifice the catchy aspect (the repeated lyric in the first song, the title track, God Fearing Youth, cool two step riff that ends the record, etc). One of my favourite punk records of 2011. Listen to it, if you don't like it, you've wasted less time than the average Tool song, so you're not losing out.

Friends band are doing a Misfits cover set tomorrow for a Halloween party. Gonna get drunk and sing some classics with them, best way to spend time.

On the halloween thing, anyone else a fan of AFI (before they went shit)?

Re: Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

Oh yeah, Botch - We Are the Romans is probably my #1 rec for the dude looking for hardcore fused with metal-ish tendancies.

Re: Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

That's Third Season.

There was a period of time between the album that was on, Shut Your Mouth, and The Art Of Drowning, where they were just an incredible punk rock band. I still get happy listening to those records, its like early Offspring or classic NOFX but a bit darker.

2nd the Botch rec. Fantastic album.

Re: Is anyone a fan of Hardcore?

For my money the greatest mixture of hardcore and heavy metal ever, nothin even comes close to this album, possibly the greatest begining to any album ever too
