Man, I can think of 3 Wu affiliated albums I'd put above Illmatic. I don't even know if it'd break my top 25 of all time (it probably wouldn't).
It's a fucking good album, I'd never pretend otherwise, but for me it just isn't that mindblowing.
I still think his verse on Live At The BBQ is the best thing Nas has done.

Top 10 at absolute worst imo
Only Wu albums or solos I'd think putting above it are 36 Chambers and OB4CL |

Liquid Swords is easily better IMO, plus the two mentioned.
Top 25 is all genres, not just hip hop. |

Oh, I was speaking "best album ever" for hip hop only
Liquid Swords is top 15-20 for Hip Hop (only spinned it maybe once the past few months so I need to give it another listen), other 2 are top 5 for me.
Supreme Clientele is top 10. New York makes up 4/5 of my top 5 (Illmatic, 36 Chambers, OB4CL, MATW, IWW)

Liquid Swords, better than Illmatic? Maybe better for falling asleep to, b. LS is a classic, but no non-Supreme Clientele Wu album is touching Illmatic.
