If you're going to call The Blueprint a classic, then we obviously just use the word differently. Some people will call any really good album, or any artist's best, a classic, but I tend to reserve that for the few records I consider the best in the genre, or something like Straight Outta Compton that had an undeniable impact on the direction hip hop took.

Solid post

As for your last line, do you consider albums like lets say, Thug Motivation 101 a classic?

Kinda off topic, but I'm too lazy to go back to the other threads and search;

Where did Big L stand in this tournament?

Eliminated in the 1st round by Ghostface Killah.

Where Big L always stands, somewhat overlooked. Lifestyles is one of my personal favourite LPs in any genre.

Ehh understandable, although he deserved a lot better than being defeated by 10-vote difference. Big L is so overlooked.

By the way; is there going to be a #3rd place Vote thread with the two rappers eliminated from this one?

I see your point, but there's a cut off between influential and genuinely game changing (in my mind, anyway). NWA were getting hounded by the police, the media, and anyone else with a platform and basically shaped mainstream hip hop throughout the 90s. The impact it made rippled through to solo careers like Cube and Dre, and the entire G-funk era. Without Straight Outta Compton, the landscape looks very different, but the music was great enough to back that up. That's not something I could say about 101.

101 put Trap Music on the map though. Sure, T.I released an album called "Trap Muzik', but it didn't have the impact Jeezy did. Some of the tracks on TM101 were so fucking good and everyone was bumping them at one point
First 4 tracks
Soul Survivor
Talk to Em
Trap or Die

Etc, also if you know Jeezy's back story and the progress he made as an artist on that album, it was even better. Listne to "Come Shop Wit Me' then TM101. Went from the fat dude in Boyz in the Hood to putting hell, not just trap music, the South on the map

Big L shouldn't have even been in the tournament. Underrated in life, overrated in death.

Good rapper with a lot of talent/potential when he unfortunately passed, but he didn't produce NEARLY enough to be considered one of the best ever.

lol at Eminem being "underrated" when he's in the final four. somewhere he has no business being.

Trap Muzik didn't have that kind of impact? I don't even fuck with that kind of music for the most part, and I couldn't escape Trap Muzik......those singles were everywhere. To the point, where I became a fan.
