But it seems like you're callin him straight-up whack, which just aint true... Well, it is now, but it wasn't always.
I'm not calling him a wack rapper, but IMO he has no classic albums, and has made a high % of crappy music. Just because dude CAN spit doesn't mean he actually makes dope music. According to my ears, he usually doesn't.

I think The Slim Shady LP is Em's classic. Just pure raw shit from the beginning to end and classic tracks never end. Marshall Matters LP starts to get wack towards the end and Eminem Show also has too much filler. I'm not with LBGetBack's opinion at all. Not giving him nearly enough credit.

Admittedly, the content turns me completely off. The voice too. And the beats he rhymes over generally. Just doesn't sound good to me as music, no matter how many hot lines he comes with or how impressively he manipulates the language. I can appreciate what he's doing from a skills standpoint, but I don't really want to listen to that shit.....can't feel most of it, whatsoever.

I like the content personally. It's just so off the wall and shocking for something so mainstream. But I am a massive Geto Boys fan, so it might explain why I feel it.

Re: WF GOAT Rapper Tournament Round 3

I would agree about Eminem's prime only being from 99-02.

He fell off after The Eminem Show, every album following that except for Recovery and the album with Royce was shit, and to be honest Royce got the better of Eminem on the majority of those tracks.

His first album Infinite was pretty dope as well IMO.

Re: WF GOAT Rapper Tournament Round 3

(1) 2Pac vs. (8) Jay-Z
(4) Notorious B.I.G. vs (5) Rakim

(2) Nas vs. (10) Mos Def
(3) Eminem vs. (6) Ice Cube

Only tough choice was Biggie vs Rakim. It'd have been great if GZA wasn't knocked out so early.

Also remember he was writing for nearly the entire group as well.

Cube's discography makes Em's look thin when you consider everything he's done. IMO, the Em/Cube will come down to the age of voters more than anything else. Most of the younger crowd likely only knows Cube as the guy from the Friday movies.

Or probably Are We There Yet? or whatever that film was.

The Em/Cube thing comes down to how you're rating it, really. Writing and flow, I'd not have too much between them. Cube has more albums I listen to, 4 including NWA, whereas there's two of Eminem's I play. They've both released shit I probably will never listen to again. Impact is a tricky one, obviously NWA were a massive influence, but Shady is amongst the biggest ever. Again, fairly even. I don't think there's an answer I'd call 'wrong' in this one, I don't think there's a big enough gap to make it anything other than personal preference.

I think it's the same situation with LL and Will. They are now known by many mostly for their acting careers than their rap careers because they are more mainstream now in big movies and TV shows.
