Re: WF GOAT Rapper Tournament Round 3

The Predator has classic tracks, but as a whole? Nahhhh... Including NWA's work does change the playing field a bit tho, that I admit.

Re: WF GOAT Rapper Tournament Round 3

Cube was on a roll from 88-93. Great and classic albums came out back to back. Eminem's peak was only about 3 years and 3 albums. Sucks to see Eminem take the lead but hey, Cube would have been knocked out by Nas anyways, so it doesn't make a difference. The final looks to be 2Pac vs Nas.

Eminem put out 3 classics in a row? When?

Eminem's best albums are spotty and no better than The Predator.

He doesn't have any albums on the level of Death Certificate or Amerikkka's Most or his EP Kill At Will. Ain't no "Real Slim Shady's" or "Guess whose back, back again, Shady's back, tell a friend"(whatever the fuck the corny shit was called) on Cube's classics. Classics don't have garbage like that on them.

As for longer primes....Em's was 99-02. Even if you want to try to make the argument that Cube's prime ended in 91(it didn't but I'll play along), 1988-1991 is just as long as Eminem's.

Predator was indeed a classic. Start to finish. I'd also put Lethal Injection up there.

SSLP, MMLP, and the Eminem Show are classic albums by every definition, b. Like I said, I'm not the biggest Marshall Mathers fan by any means. But nitpicking a hook is pointless, in that case NY State of Mind isn't classic cuz the hook is just a sample of Rakim saying "New York State of Mind" over and over again. Plus look at their lows. I Am the West is on par with Recovery in terms of whackness. I'm not necessarily sayin that Eminem > Cube, hell I actually prefer Cube, but it's not as clear cut as you think.

Those albums you named may be classics by any definition.........to white kids who were in middle school and high school at the time, and placed them right next to their Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock albums. Those shits are probably like the hip hop bible to that set of fans. That ain't my set though. Don't nobody I know own or discuss those albums.

I wasn't referring to the hook sucking....I was using the hook to identify the song because i don't remember......the whole song was wack as fuck, from the beat, to the rhymes, to the hook. And it was far from the only song in that realm, off those albums.

You insinuating that a scratched hook is a negative......what? Scratched hooks are bad now? Fuck that.

I mean, speaking with no bias, dude literally became the biggest musical act in the world with those albums. They made a pretty big impact, which is what a classic is supposed to do. & I wasn't sayin the NY State of Mind hook was bad, i was sayin that if you're criticizing hooks for bein non-lyrical (which I now know you weren't doing), then by that logic, that one should be horrible.

No idea how the rhymes were bad, tho. Em's technical ability is pretty damn good. Not the G.O.A.T. like white kids like to say he is, but he aint no joke.

The rhymes on the first singles were terrible.

Biggest musical act in the world and big impact doesn't mean classic. Is Puffy - No Way Out a classic? Not in my book.

To an extent, it does. All Eyez On Me is more widely recognized as a classic than Me Against the World, n imo MatW is MUCH better. Em isn't in my top 10, I don't think he should have made it this far in the tournament, and I don't think he's better than Cube. But it seems like you're callin him straight-up whack, which just aint true... Well, it is now, but it wasn't always.
