The Diary and Mr Scarface Is Back alone put the dude in a top 32 list that looks like this tbh. Not even touching on his GB work.

LOL @ overlooking Eric B as a rapper.

How many classic albums does Big Pun have? What about DMX? Pun died way too soon, so he only has one classic Album. Catalogue matters.

"wow" Wow what? Andre 3000 sings and is lame. He's hardly a RAPPER, Big Boy is more the rapper than him and quite frankly he's more talented. People think Andre is so awsome because he's in movies. Big deal. People aren't judging on TALENT but merely mainstream appeal. Kanye as one of the best? Give me a break. Scarface isn't that great, he's nothing special.Black Thought, who cares? Seems like people put more stock into shit that shouldn't matter.P
LOL at this, "Big Boy", who's that? "Black thought, who cares?" "Scarface isn't that great", Fuck! I'm not even going to respond to those ignorant statements. Aquemini and the Fix> All of AOTPs work as a group and by themselves combined

Quote:
There are plenty of names that should be ahead over most guys there it just depends onw hat you're looking for. In terms of pure old school where's Run DMC,Eric B,Kool G Rap,Slick Rick,Guru?
Yeah sure, I'll vote Eric B in next time

Quote:
When it comes to pure talent and or meaning behind tracks Vinny Paz,Celph Titled,R.A. The Rugged Man,Ill Bill ,Copywrite,Sabac Red,Apathy....etc
No place in a GOAT rapper tournament

Quote:
I'm not a fan of Immortal Technique... In fact I hate the guy but I respect what he does and what he raps about he isn't afraid to say what he wants.
So that puts him in a GOAT rapper tournament? You were just shitting on Kanye earlier, he also isn't afraid of what he says and raps about what he wants as well

Quote:
Ya they're trash but since they were on tv you clowns think they're so awesome!
Yeah, Scarface is everywhere on TV!

Quote:
Woah, I know nothing about rap?Or is it Hiphop? I've heard everyone on that list, and there are plenty of names that deserve to be there. Its an extremely underwhelming list, some made it beacuse they're dead and others made it because they were on tv.Hardly something they should get credit for. If you want old school where is Run DMC? If you want TALENT where's Vinny Paz,R.A. The Rugged Man , or Celph titled? If you want meaningful songs with talent wheres Sabac Red,Copywrite,Revolution of the Mind.... and thats just "underground" guys who deserve to be on this list over most of those names. If you think Black Thought is technically proficient then you haven't heard much
No you don't, because you're shitting on Scarface/3 Stacks/Black Thought and think jabronis like Celph Titled should be in. AOTP is great, how many classic albums do they have? Who the fuck remembers any RA verse besides on Uncommon Valor?

Quote:
But ya Kanye is one of the greatest of all time...and I! Don't know hiphop . Big L,Big Pun,Talib being overlooked is a JOKE.
Big L and Pun died too soon, L has 1 (or 2) classic albums and Pun only has one. Kweli is in the lead right now so I don't know what you're on about with him being overlooked

Quote:
Like I said, this list is a joke and there are plenty more deserving
Yeah, like Vinnie fucking Paz?

Not everyone that's on the list is truly amongst the best, but that's how it goes with the popular votes.

Big L should have won the competition though, GOAT for sure.

I'm fed up turning the TV on and seeing Scarface all the time tbh. :krs

The problem with Big L is he died too soon and his catalogue is very slim compared to nearly everyone else on that list. How do I vote him over let's say Jay Z when Jay has more classic albums, songs, stayed on top longer, etc? If he stayed alive (or he was like Pac where he still has new unreleased songs being heard), he'd have a case.

And I regret voting Kanye, I voted for Kool G but Dr Dre made it in ahead of him somehow.

Yeah dude, stopped reading right about here. If your gonna walk into the thread and start shitting all over everything you'd better do your homework first.

Don't know what you're on about, I agree with him. Vinnie Paz> Scarface and Black Thought is a nobody

It depends on your criteria, really. For lyrics and flow, he's one of the best ever for me. It's like GZA has one truly classic album but it's probably my favourite hip hop record, and he's undoubtedly extremely talented. Those two at their peak were better than Jay Z at his peak, even though he's got maybe 3 really good records, I don't think they touch the two aforementioned guy's work. I guess it all comes down to opinions really, there's no correct answer for it and you can argue from any angle. But if we're going on body of work as that important in the judging, then B.I.G. isn't up there.

I think we can all agree that Scarface obviously isn't trash.

I don't have B.I.G in my top 5 for that reason, that's why Nas is the GOAT to me. Almost, 20 years later after the imo the GOAT hip hop album got released, he put's out arguably the rap album of the year.

Discography is a big part of where you are positioned in the greatest of all time lists IMO. That's why Biggie doesn't even make it to my top 10 and if he does, at the very last spot maybe. Consistency is also important to me which is why Nas only makes it to the bottom part of the top 10 despite being an amazing rapper. One undisputed classic, a few good albums and some disappointments with a few gems in them. Exactly why Scarface is in my top 5 since all his albums are at least good.

Also, none of L or Pun's albums are even all that great or the classics they are made out to be. Capital Punishment is way too long and has too many stupid skits whereas L's debut just doesn't have that 'classic' feeling to it. As a DITC fan, it doesn't feel all that different from the rest of their early 90s albums yet it gets 100 times the attention they get. His second album was incomplete so that means it didn't get the chance to become the classic it could be.

IWW, Stillmatic, and Illmatic are all undisputed classics imo
Lost Tapes is arguably a classic and 9/10 at worst
God's son is the same thing but I don't rate that album as much as the other 4
Depending on how well Life Is Good ages, that may wind up into a classic too (Outside of Summer on Smash, fuck that)
Hip Hop is Dead is ok, 7-7.5
I am.., Nastradamus (outside of maybe 5 songs), Street's Disciple (too long) and Untitled were all bad- average at best
