Voted for Black Metal, but I think some of you guys aren't appreciating some of the greatness that Power Metal brings to the table. Once you peel back the layers of cheese, there's a technical aspect with the use of orchestration or similar techniques. The concepts can often be hit or miss but as a 'fantasy fiction' fan I enjoy the idea of trying to incorporate those concepts into a musical medium.
I appreciate the technical aspect, and know that when its done right, its a very demanding and difficult genre to both write and perform. No disrespect to the skill levels involved. Unfortunately, I've never heard a power metal band I actually came close to liking.
BM wins for me even just including the newer wave of black-influenced bands, like Deafheaven, Wolves In The Throne Room, Boss-de-Nage (III is a great album, released this year), etc.
