Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
Out of Black Hippy, I listen to Lamar & Jay Rock the most. Only Q song I listened to was Blessed, just doesn't seem that lyrical to me, and Ab-Soul is a little too philosopher like for me.

Jay Rock is the worst of the group IMO. He still goes hard but compared to the others, he's the weakest.
I'd say:
1. Kendrick
2. Schoolboy
3. Ab-Soul
4. Jay Rock

i've been a huge Ab-Soul fan for 5 years. i may be a bit biased. i thought his album was great though. although i prefer the mixtape w/ this:

Damn both of yall mentioned Scoolboy Q. Never heard much of him besides features, never really thought much of him tbh, is his album really worth a listen?

I mean Kendrick is the Lyricist, & Good Kid of the group,Ab-Soul, the Philosopher, but what are Jay & Q, They can't both be the gangsters.

Gambino dropped a pretty dope mixtape over the summer named Royalty but nah no album for him so far this year. Speaking of that, my top 5 mixtapes:
4Eva N A Day
Royalty
Macadelic
Rich Forever
Lord$ Never Worry
I really had trouble thinking of the 5th one. I know there was probably a great mixtape I forgot.

Jay Rock-Gangster rap
Kendrick Lamar- Socially conscious rap
Schoolboy Q - Mellow/Chilled Out Rap (but he can go hard when he pleases i.e Brand New Guy)
Ab Soul- Conscious conspiracy theory rap.
