Just wondering did anybody here like Chamillionaire? Dude had some pretty good lyrics than just basically disappeared.
After the failed attempts by Lil Flip, Lil Troy and Scarface making less & less music, I just knew that Texas was going to make some serious noise. But, IDK what happened and Bun B remains the 1 holding it together, with Trae The Truth coming hard.
Wasn't really a fan of Slim Thug outside of his early Swishahouse days but between Chamillionaire, Rasaq & Yung Ro, I thought Houston was back.
chamillionaire was cool, never liked him enough to check for his albums though. the texas stuff i was a fan of was dj screw and the screwed up click. fat pat(my favorite), lil keke, esg, big pokey, those guys could wreck. lil flip was good early in his career too, dude was an incredible freestyler. lil troy was never a real rapper.
Chamillionaire was and still is solid. I just wish he came out of the shadows. The Mixtape Messiah series is boss. One of the few rappers I don't mind beat jacking from.
As far as the Screwed Up Click, I only really got into Z-Ro, Trae & S.L.A.B./ABN. I was a Flip fan back during The Leprachaun but once he signed a deal, he kind of fell off. I liked Lil Keke too.
But yeah, Chamillionaire was the shit. Anybody remember Magnificent aka Magno, he used to be with Mike Jones (1st Round Draft Picks) at the beginning but left to start his own shit (Newprint) and like most Texas rappers, he disappeared after that. At 1 point in time, all I would listen to is Texas shit (Dirty South Rydaz, Boss Hogg Outlaws back during the Kappa days, Freestyle Kings, S.L.A.B., old school Swishahouse with Big Tiger, Lil Ron, Archie Lee). And on top of that, you always had Face, Bun & Pimp C holding shit down. Them was the days.
My favorite songs with both together was "I Know" off S.L.A.B. The Anthem with Boss & Jay'ton, "Losing Composure" with Yukmouth, "I Found Me" and "Beware" with Bun B.
And whatever happened to Dougie D? Last I heard from him was "Boss Mac Swag" with Trae & Boss.
