Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Drake was rapping for 3 years before he blew up and signed a major label contract, Drake was an irrelevant underground artist for three years until J. Prince's son introduced him to Lil Wayne. Please quit acting like Drake just automatically jumped into the mainstream world. Drake was already an established artist when he made a fucking 2 second cameo appearance in a Justin Bieber video, get the fuck over it. My god, why in the world are you making a big deal because he appeared in a Bieber video?

Reason I brought up Snoop is you were bashing Drake for making a cameo in a Justin Bieber video but Snoop Dogg has made actual song with the likes of Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.

Like I said before, Hopsin is just another hipster rap fan flavor of the month, by this time next year they'll have moved on to someone new. Hopsin doesn't have any album/mixtape better than Tha Carter III let alone Tha Carter II.

An album consisting of violent diarrhea sounds for an hour is better than Carter III. I can respect the stuff before it but Carter III is just fucking terrible.

I liked maybe 3-4 songs on Tha Carter 3 but those 3 or 4 songs are better than most of Hopsins discography

I really hope he goes "mainstream" so all these "underground" fans turn on him like they did with J Cole and Wale

Huh? "love affair"??? What the.... I've been saying Hopsin is a good Hip Hop artist on the rise..he is still only releasing a couple of songs here and there. Totally unfair to compare him up against a number of Lil Wayne albums. Hopsin has potential to be better than Lil Wayne and he most likely..well, he is already better. Anyone is, lol. I would rather hear Martha Stewart rap then Lil Wayne. It's just like what Chris Tucker said "Lil Wayne sound like a lil retarded kid" Krispy Kreme is even better than Lil Wayne.

Kendrick Lamar is decent but Hopsin just has a massive point to prove and I'm 19 years old, and I can tell you right now that a lot of my generation has swayed towards Ocean, Hopsin, Fiasco etc. You may say "Fiasco is that and this blah blah" But everyone is moving towards them instead of Lil Wayne and Drake. I think only 14 year olds listen to Lil Wayne, so lame.

come on now

and why do you keep bringing up Ocean? He's a singer, not a rapper. He rapped some bars on Oldie but he's still a singer. And who's everyone? Fiasco barely sold 90k week one and his album has been called a disappointment. This guy also made lasers, the definition of a mainstream album. Then when it got backlash, he blamed the label

And hopsin is what, 27?He just released Raw 2 years ago and Gazeing at the Moonlight 3 years ago. Wayne released TC2 at 23, younger than Hopsin is/was

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Why do you keep bringing up Frank Ocean? He doesn't even rap.

Of course Wayne sucks nowadays, but him in his prime was a better rapper than Hopsin. I take Carter II over anything Hopsin has released.

As for Carter III, there's some shit songs but there's also some pretty good songs on there like You Ain't Got Nuthin, Let the Beat Build, Mr. Carter, 3 Peat to name a few.

[quote=PunkSE316;12156464] Snoop Dogg rose up through talking about the street poverty, raising awareness to Compton about Police brutality etc. Do you see the difference? It's probably time for you to use the brain that you have...

Snoop came out rapping about A) how dope he is B)fucking hoes C)Not loving them hoes D)Smoking weed E) Killing mf'ers he don't like.

"Raising awareness" my ass. Of course, you weren't even alive when Snoop came out, so your cluelessness is explainable. You really need to sit down on this shit though. Enough is enough, gotdamn.

Just like the All City Chess Club

Although at least for All-City CC, Lupe said that he hopes to be able to get everyone together to drop a mixtape since an album would be too difficult due to different labels.
Yeah, It probably won't but it did seem feasible, sucks ..

Lol I never really had hope on All City ever releasing anything just because of how many people are in the group

Makes me miss Blu though, I think he's done rapping. Did a quick wiki check to see if he has anything he plans on releasing soon and apparently he wants to focus on filming movies now.
